You can use Crank Brothers road pedals with mountain bike shoes but you will need to trim a little off the bottom to clip in. Not sure but this might be the case with a few of the road pedals, you might be able to use them with mountain bike shoes with a little trimming at the bottom of the shoe (again not sure about any but Crank Brothers).

    Hope this helps
The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

    Hey, thanks, everyone!

As soon as my nifty, new Sidis get here I'll check out both the Crank Bros and the Speedplay Frogs. - M.

I have Speedplay Frogs, too, and have to say that I really am VERY happy with them. They should be fine with the standard 2-bolt pattern. The website may help you narrow down which shoes fit with which pedal systems.

    Good luck!

I am able to use both my pairs of shoes mt bike (shimano) and road (sidi) with both types of Crank Bros pedals I have, Quattro and Candies with no modifications to shoes or pedals. It's made me a big, big fan of Crank Bros. My mt bike shoes don't have very large or deep lugs on them though - just enough to walk without walking directly on the cleat.
