Margo... they're not quite white, but not really pink.
I think they've changed the colour with the increased awareness of red food colouring.

Queen... there was a big discussion somewhere about chocky fish but I can't find it.

Essentially, choclate fish are a NZ icon - right up there with pavlova, jandels, black singlets, buzzy bees, gumboots, kiwifruit, lemon and paeroa, hokey pokey icecream etc etc

Yes, they are a food - but no fish involved. They are a soft yummy marshmallow coated in milk chocolate.

They are often used as a reward, or as an acknowledgement.... eg

"I owe you a chocolate fish for that"
"Wow, good effort - chocolate fish I reckon"

When students find spelling/editing mistakes in course books, I give them a chocolate fish!

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

Marshmallow?? Ewwwwwwwwwww! If you gave a $1000 I wouldn't eat one, too many s'mores as a Girl Scout I guess.

    Oh Queen
    - they are not marshmallow like a packet of marshmallos you buy to toast over a fire.
    - they are not the cloying marshmallow of easter eggs

It is a much creamier, smoother, lighter marshmallow. plus, the thickness of each fish is about 1/4 - 1/3 of an inch - so not too much marshmallow in a bite...

Of course, one must get the "original" chocolate fish brand - you can now get "sprats" (think 'mini-me') which are not too bad, but a bit sweet... and "giant chocolate fish" which are grainy and cloying.

LOL... good idea except I dont do the SS thing - not organised enough (hence this thread! although part of my problem is I work til the post office closes and i live way out in the country so even on a Saturday morning like now, I am too far from the shops and when I go in this afternoon for my racing with the rest of the family, the PO will be closed - NZ closes at weekends!!!)

However... once I have sent chocky fish to everyone I already owe chocky fish to, I'm happy to send them elsewhere...
