    Do roller rides count?

It is actually snowing right now in MD.
Out of complete desperation, I pulled out the rollers today.
    Ick. I hate rollers.
But, I rode for a half hour (held onto the railing with one hand for the first 7 minutes until DH coached me into letting go and riding with two hands on the bars. Gulp!), did a bit over 9.5 miles so I could at least add SOMETHING to my "2500 in 2007" total on BikeJournal.

I had a very nice Sunday afternoon of pedalling! A glorious day. Sunny and cold (6C but windchill brought it a bit lower) and windy. Headed out after a hearty fry up for breakfast so I had lots of fuel to burn. And freshly cleaned bike and freshly cleaned bearings (had to cut yesterday's ride short due to loud noises from front bearings). Great ride. Did about 35 miles and made it home just at sunset. Should have brought the camera. I'll try to remember next time. Had some very nice views along the way.

I did about 16 as a recovery ride. set out to do 20, but Senorita Santa Ana and her wonderful winds had other plans (how said Winter in Southern California isn't a blast?)

What can one say about spin class except that the days are getting longer. Wasn't yet dark on my way home, just that gorgeous time of dusk when the sky is the full range of colors from gold-tinged in the south to deep blue in the north, and the kids are still out sledding on the hillside.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

34 miles, 1/2 of it into 20 mph winds. Practiced my tire sucking technique behind DH who'd rather be in front anyway. I'm too small to be of much use on the front of a paceline. At least the temperature was back to normal in the low 60s.

Back to the trainer until next weekend .

First Sunny Day In Two Weeks

It was the first rideable day in two weeks. We spent the bulk of the week dealing with an ice storm that shut the city down. But today it was sunny, lows in the 40s but highs in the 60s. YES! We had a club ride scheduled at 1:30 which was perfect for taking advantage of those highs. So, I got to ride in shorts and a short sleeve jersey, and feel the sun beating down on me. I was even HOT during the first few climbs as I struggled to warm up. It was a tough ride given we had 2 weeks off the bike and it starts out with a steep climb (helotes to toutant beuraguard to bourne to helotes), but it just felt so good to be out on a bike and after ~10 miles I was in a groove. Got 37 miles in for the day, FINALLY!
