    hmmm ... tell me more

We have plans for Sun. the 18th and 25th (it's the Tour of California, baby!) but if doesn't fall on those days I'd be interested.

Or even if it does, I'd still like to know about it in case it's offered again.

freewheel cycles up in sf. 2/4 and 2/11 from 12 - 4 both days. also includes 6 mos of membership to use their self service shop (which isn't really convenient for me since i'm in the south bay) but it's the knowledge i'm after.

    it's the only classes i've found. $100.

and that's bout all i know. i figure it's gonna be better than what i know now... uh nothing...

Maybe you guys will think I'm nuts...but I like your Bridgestone just the way it is right now- with all the different years of its history and life story, paint colors in different areas, with the OLD logos all nicked and scraped, with the odd bits of colors here and there and scratches and nicks. I think it's a work of art! I'd hate to see the old original logos removed and replaced with a perfect paint job and new logos. How about just cleaning and drying it toroughly and then some ClearCote? But hey that's just me.
BEAUTIFUL bike- how lucky you are.
Keep in mind that is a bike that certain people who "know" would want to steal very badly. Lock it up good, girl.

I would worry about the integrity of the paint that's on it, with its somewhat mysterious past. You don't want moisture to have crept in at a scratch or ding and be slithering it's way along the metal/paint interface rusting and wreaking havoc.

What kind of condition is the original paint? Can it be salvaged? Man, I just can't imagine someone painting over that baby, did they know what they had?

    My guess is they:

    * wanted to "uglify" and theft proof the bike or ...
    * had scratches and didn't know how to touch it up or ...
    * think it looks way cool (the hand paint job, this is my bet)
    * thought/knew it was hot and did not want it recognised.

When I see bikes with the logo painted over, or neatly wrapped over with electrical tape ... I wonder.

But if they knew what they had, they'd have fixed it up so my guess is did not know better.

R'dog, what's this babies history? It's in good hands now.

It's steel, she needs a good paint job is my vote.

Uh oh. I need to check on Big Red. She's steel, and she's got a few rust spots on her handlebars. Does that mean she needs a new paint job? I wonder if anybody here does that, or do I need to take her to CA this summer and make her my CA bike?
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

You're not leaving her outside are you?

Handlebars most likely are not steel, and they are easier to replace.

subliminal hint Get the bike Friday, come to CA, bring the bike in a suitcase.
