The keeper has a longer "stick" at the bottom which she found annoying and didn't need for removal

Yes - not quite sure why it comes with such a long stick. They suggest you trim it down to length with a sharp pair of scissors but I cut mine off altogether as I don't need it either.

If you do not have access to any washing facility then pee on your hand and diva cup after you remove it.
