    How To make an avatar

    To disable ads, please log-in.

(edited since I was informed an avatar doesn't need host space...)

you need some sort of digital image.

If you go to the TE profile page, you'll see that under options is where you do the avatar stuff. You must make your image no larger than 100x100 pixels. You can do this by cropping it or using a re-size funtion in a photo editor.

follow AG's post of the instructions for uploading.

You need a hosting site to post photos, but you don't have to host the photo for an avatar. You can load your avatar right form your computer.
    • Go to User Control Panel (User CP) from the menu above
    • Select "Edit Options"
    • Scroll down to the bottom to "Other Options"
    • Click on "Change Avatar"
    • In "Custom Avatar" select "yes"
    • At "You can upload an avatar from your computer" browse your hard drive for the image you want to use.
    • Submit modifications
As Irulan says, there is a limit to the size of your avatar, so you may have to crop or resize to make it small enough.

I just changed mine, but I upload from my site.

Getting the thing small enough is the real challenge.
    no regrets!

cool! I guess it's the photos we have to up load to web space not the avatars. I'm glad someone is paying attention...

Thanks for the tips. I now have an avatar! And what is really cool is that my previous posts were automatically updated with the avatar. Awesome. I tried putting up a bike pic, but couldn't get one that didn't disappear at 100x100 pixels. So, the next best thing is the pink ribbon, to celebrate now 8 years of breast cancer survival. Yea!

I can't have one yet, I need a few more posts ... oh and I so don't want to post for the sake of it
I'll have to have a look around, see what I can constructively contribute to... don't hold your breath ladies

Thom thinks I should use this as my avatar. Properly resized of course.

BTW we have pictures up from our trip to Utah. No biking, but some gorgeous scenery. They're under What's New in January 2005.

    no regrets!

So Veronica - did you get the beers Before the balancing act?........or was it like dog treats - gotta balance the caps First Then get the beer as the treat? Inquiring minds want to know!

JanT: Kudos to you hun - I am the neice of a breast cancer "thriver" as she calls herself as she is still in the 5 years not cleared yet stage!!

Irulan/AG: OK.....I guess there isn't any reason for me not to have an avatar now! At least before I could always use the - "wow you mean I could Have one" and the "don't know how" excuse!

<-----gone searching for an avatar! BBS
