Ebay?

I didnt want to put it under apparel but its over all products....

Has anyone bought any jerseys/shoes/bikes/parts etc. off of ebay? If not, would you?

I just bid on a new Pearl Izumi White Cycling Jersey for only 8.00....

Also a Zoot Sports Triathlon two peice for 10.00

And Nice pair of Asics (Matches my bike too! lol) For 25.00



What about you guys? What do you think?

I just see it as saving tons of money... i rather bid on the new stuff........ not too fond of old stuff......

I was also looking at (But didnt bid on) 5 jerseys (3 caught my eye) for only i think..... less than 10.00

I have gotten many cycling products from e-bay including the frame my son is currently riding. I have never, (knock on wood), had a problem with sellers. I limit my buying only to merchants in the U.S. or Canada, (I don't know why, it is something my husband told me to do). Most of the time I hit buy it now, and just purchase without the bidding hassles. Many of the bike products come from very reputable dealers that could not sell something from their own shops. I am however, currently watching a Terry Despatch for my daughter who is very small...

I've bought several articles of cycling clothes from ebay. The only thing I make sure of is that the item is new and it still has the tags on it. I don't like the idea of wearing someone else's cycling shorts! So far I've had no trouble and found some really great deals.

I have purchased lots of bike parts/flyrods/yarn from eBay. My husband is getting some gorgeous hardwood blanks. Other than brand new shoes, I have never purchased clothing. So far, we've only had good experience but we only buy items that we've researched and have good pictures. We also look carefully at the seller's comments. I also only buy in US/Canada just so if I do have a bad experience I might have a better chance of dealing with the seller. The number of times bike components sell for more than you can get from any of the big name bike catalogs is amazing, especially when realize that these companies generally give a better satisfaction/return guarantee. Some of the catalog companies also sell their stuff on eBay so keep an eye out. You can also find a lot of stuff that hasn't been made in a while (like a new Suntour freewheel for your cherished vintage bike).

So, yes, eBay can be a good thing, but you have to know your product. Email the seller with any questions. Their response is critical as it indicates their actual knowledge of the product and the timeliness of their delivery.

I've had great luck w. Ebay recently in finding exactly the panniers I've been looking for - a couple of months ago I bought a pair of Arkel T22 front panniers, and a couple of weeks ago I found the matching T42 rear set. In both instances they were in like-new condition and the price was great. Major score, IMHO.

I've been scanning Ebay for jerseys, and bid on a few, but so far the ones I wanted went beyond the price I was willing to pay (which was not very much). Jerseys are the only cycling clothing I would buy on Ebay - altho I would check out jackets too, but at this point I have 2 which is plenty.

My current Ebay aquistion target is a Brooks B17 saddle in an elusive-yet-tasteful maroon.

(...yep, I know that Wallbike carries the Brooks Finesse in maroon, but my butt does not appreciate a 'womans' Brooks saddle, its just one of those things ...)

I've had great luck with Ebay on clothing. Almost everything I've bought is NWT "new with tags". I've saved upwards of 50% off catalog pricing. I still try to support my LBS on a regular basis too, but being a "stuff" accumulator I just can resist having one more jersey or pair of shorts. Good luck with your purchases. I've also been looking at the Spinervals DVD to get me through the winter months. The buy it now pricing savings the shipping and handling.

My husband and I are big ebay fans. We have bought and sold many items to include selling a 1967 Karma Ghia (car) and buying several bikes. We have been happy will most of our transactions. The only advice I have is make sure you check the sellers feedback and use caution for those with negative feedback. Good Luck bidding.

I have bought bike parts on eBay and a few jerseys (NWT). Got a great deal on brand-new Eggbeater Candy SL pedals there, a Terry Fly saddle for my husband, and my proudest buy was my carbon Aegis Swift frame, which I had built up into the best bike ever early last year. It's my avatar! I got a great deal on it as it was a leftover (never used but a few years old) from a small LBS in Calif. I got the frame and fork for $699. Would have been $2100 for a 2004 version!

I have also sold used bike parts on eBay and done quite well. They tend to attract more bids than any other items I have listed in the past.
