Sorry, we never talked like that. But my formative years were spent in So. California so maybe that has something to do with it! Although I do have a hard time relating any phrase that includes "zip" with a VW van. Hey! My biking style is just like my van. Slow, gasp, don't stop on the uphill because you will never get started again. Then . . . pedal like mad on the downhill So what does - zip zap zooey zip zap - mean? Inquiring minds what to know? bikerHen

[QUOTE=bikerHen]Real name: Explanation of your handle: Like I said, "I aint a chick no more". But I'm a hen that's finally hitting her stride. Maybe life DOES begin at 50?!QUOTE]

I love the statement 50 is the *new* 30 ... and I couldn't agree more.

I took a cue from Oprah who said that she was looking forward to her 50th birthday and when she was finished turning 50 everyone was going to look forward to turning 50.

Biking has and continues to play an important part of helping me define who I am. I love the age that I am and will continue to be grateful for every age that I am blessed to experience.

Lisa - I hope you'll post a photo of your bike with your dogs in the carrier. DH and I have talked about getting a burley (as many of you have heard me mention in the past, we have four resident English cockers) and DH's dog, Lucy (aka The Queen of Everything) would look splendid in a burley as would any of the others

Well we did take some pic on a ride last summer but it may take a few days to figure out how to publish them to this site. I actually did some research into dog trailers, yes, they do make trailers just for dogs! I goolged bike trailers and found a company that specializes in dog trailers. The biggest difference being the axel is located more in the center of the trailer where a dogs center of gravity would be. My lovable but cheap DH firmly declined to spend that kind of money on "a couple of dogs". So, we got a cheap version at the local department store that he modified. Having said all that, it really is a kick taking the dogs. The dogs seem to have fun as long as were moving but want out as soon as we stop. Kinda like kids! bikerHen

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: nope, can't go there on a public forum.

Most memorable moment on my bike:
Being chased by a guard dog. (ok, so I was tresspassing!)

Most fun ever had on a bike?
Can I say every ride? Tonight was great!

So, I thought I would fill this out as a way for re-introduction. I joined this board a long time ago but I haven't been around lately. Work locked down the internet access and I can't read these forums anymore. After being on a computer for 8+ hours at work, it looses its appeal to then be on a computer at home.

Tonight, I decided to log in, and I realize how much I miss reading here. I've gotten some great advice here, and I love how respectful and fun the posts can be. So, I think I'll try to pop in more often.

Welcome back, cdale! Be careful; addiction to the boards can disrupt sleep, etc.! We all know from sad experience!

    {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{cdalekat}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

welcome back hugs! I know what you mean about spending all day on the puter and then when you get home - but I don't see This as "sitting in front of my computer"! This is my time to connect with my all-over-the-world friends, the cats know I'll be still for a while so they can sit on my lap, and it gives me a feel-good feeling after working with morons all day!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? no rode bike

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have very many pixs of myself - I hate having my pix taken

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I can't remember.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I've only been riding a year now. So, far my most memorable moment would be riding in the 1st Wissahickon Poker Run. I'd never ridden there before and the intermediate trail was quite challenging for me. Lots of rick gardens, hills and such. I made it through the 10 mile loop and had a great time.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I love log overs. Although, I let my mind get the best of me sometimes and it takes me a few times to get over some of the really big ones. I like downhills, too.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I keep them small. I'm lousy at it.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding with DH and friends, his cousin drove by recognized us and was in shock to find me at front pulling everyone. He used to ride so he knows it's harder in the front of the line.

Most fun ever had on a bike? When I finally learned how to use the gears and ride free like a kid again.
