Explanation of your handle: Its the name of my top competition horse (my 1500 pound baby)

Age (general or specific) 38 in, ugh, 6 days

    Occupation: IT Geek, dressage trainer

Favorite bike: I adore my SWorks hardtail for MTB. I've had it for 5 years and still refure to let my husband pick out something new (he is the mechanic at a local shop).

What's in your stable? Above plus my cyclo cross bike is a Bianchi (well, frame only because he got a deal on it from the rep), my husband did the parts package Dura Ace/XTR. Researching for a road bike now. Plus my husbands pile, a GT Zaskar, a GT Karakorum, a Trek BMX, a GT BMX, his ancient Schwinn road bike, a Giant Rincon for my daughter, a Trek Mountain Cub for my son and more boxes of parts than I care to think about. (and technically, since you said "stable", I also have 7 horses)

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Telling my mom (at 17) that the reason my front axle was broken in pieces on my truck was because someone ran me off the when I had, in fact, jumped the stupid thing off a dirt bike jump and went over 6 feet high. To be young and stupid...

    Real name: Mendy

    Where do you live? Maryland

Explanation of your handle: I'm a mom of twin girls who will be 3 in September

Age (general or specific) 32 until December

Occupation: Recovering Lawyer, full-time mom, part time-legal consultant

Favorite bike: I've never had the pleasure of riding one but I love the look of the Aegis frames.

What's in your stable? A 1999 Klein Quantum and a 1998 GT Backwoods Mountain bike for me. My husband has a '98 Trek 2120 and a '89 trek 1200 which he keeps at his office to ride during lunch. Oh, and he also has some full suspension mountain bike that he rarely rides and I can't for the life of me remember who makes it.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I don't recall what it was but I remember going really really fast down a few hills back in 1996 when I did Cycle Across Maryland. Since riding again this summer I generally hit around 30 going down my one big hill on my morning loop.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Here's the bike, I have to work on one of me.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: It's not you, It's me...

Most memorable moment on my bike: When I did Cycle Across Maryland I was not prepared and suffered the entire week. My fiance at the time and my Dad were both on the trip and driving me crazy because they kept hovering around me to make sure I was okay but I felt like I had to push myself to keep up with them. On the 3rd day I managed to sneak away from them both. I had the best ride of my life that afternoon and just as I finished climbing this huge hill and came around a corner there was a field of sun flowers. As far as I could see in one direction was just this amazing display of yellow flowers rising up to meet the bright blue sky. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen until my daughters were born. I thought I might have been hallucinating but when I got to the camp site other people were talking about it so I knew they were real.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I would have to say every morning that I ride by myself right now. I'm re-learning everything and falling in love with biking all over again.

Where do you live? West Michigan

Explanation of your handle: I can't remember where it came from.

    Age (general or specific) 27

    Occupation: Art Director

Favorite bike: Waterford-my first road bike :-)

What's in your stable? Giant OCR 2, Waterford w/ campy 8, Trek Fuel

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 39 mph descending block house hill last summer

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: My parents think I have a college degree.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing my first "B" group ride. I had gradually upgraded from "womens" to "C's" and finally the B's! I had never been so confident in my own abilities as that moment. I had to stop to throw up on the way home, but it was worth it :-)

Most fun ever had on a bike? Mountain biking in north carolina. It was my first time truly mountain biking and I was so timid and slow when we started our ride . . . I almost went back to the car and was going to read while my husband mntn biked. But he pushed me on. Towards dusk we got lost and found ourselves in a very swampy area. My husband ran our bikes across and then came back and had me jump on his back. He took one step and sunk waist deep into the muck :-) I ended up wading over through the swamp by msyelf. Towards the end we were cruising up and down the trail and finally made it back to the logging road--the same trail we had initially started on. I realized I wasn't afraid of the trail anymore and I had a blast. It was the best time ever.

Corsair, I'm from Muskegon area. I do love my waterford. It was a gift from my husband and my first road bike. I had no idea at the time what a nice bike it is. It's actually set up for cyclocross more than for road riding.

    Welcome to the board everyone!

Quint- Your avatar keeps making me want to run to the store for Oreos. Mmmm....

Colleen- I love you lie. One night DH asked if I ate the last of the cookies (4) and I said no. Bad lie, we don't have kids and the dogs are too short to get to the cookie jar!

This is my first post here, so I'll let this stand as my introduction. Hiya, everyone!
    Real name: Holly

Where do you live? Bloomington, IN

Explanation of your handle: My name is Holly, in Latin, that's "ilex". "Veloc" is a partial root for speed, so velocilex = "Speedy Holly"!

Explanation of your avatar: 'Tis me on the Hilly Hundred last year.

    Age (general or specific) 40

Occupation: Art History instructor and grad student, finishing my Ph.D. dissertation.

Favorite bike: My 2005 Kona Dew Deluxe workhorse. But my new Scott Contessa CR1 is working its way up there.

    What's in your stable? 2006 Scott Contessa CR1/ 2006 Lemond Etape/ 2005 Kona Dew Deluxe/ 1997 Roadmaster Little 500 SS

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 40.3 mph, last weekend on the road leading down to the causeway of Lake Monroe. I'm still picking the bugs out of my teeth!

Another picture of yourself or your ride? This is my Kona and I outside the 12th century church of St.-Pierre de la Tour in Aulnay, France this summer.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Go on and finish without me. I dont mind.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding my fully loaded bike alone over the rolling hills of southwestern France and seeing the bell tower of one of my favorite medieval churches come into view. My heart was just pounding and I couldn't stop thinking, "Guess where I went on my bike ride today?"

Most fun ever had on a bike? I spent seven weeks on a solo tour of southwestern France earlier this year while I was doing research for my dissertation. It was fun, but lonely. I have to say, though, I had a great ride here at home with a couple friends yesterday morning: it was one of those rides where everything was in tune and grooving-- including myself!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding with no helmet, stopped short for kid running out in road...went over handlebars and landed on my head. I was in real PAIN - I couldn't even see - curled up in ball. Heard voice in distance say, I think she's dead....Opened my eyes and was completely encircled by little kids.....I can't remember anything after that, but the guy I was with, who thought it was hilarious, said I muttered, Kids, don't try this at home and weaved my way down the street....
