Dark an' Crappy this morning. Blah.
Peaceful morning. Getting (too) used to hauling the laptop into bed with me to check email and make sure friends and family are still there. Hid the laptop. Had a wake-up yesterday realizing I needed to focus on my work. Getting my posting in, then, before getting into it. Office is quiet b/c the stock market's closed today. Woohoo. Another true catchup day. It's not that I have ADD it's that I don't have the willpower all the time to not open up firefox and check email and TD and whip open Trill to chat with the ladies (and you know how popular I am with the ladies )
    So... RRRgh.
gotta be a good girl today.
wouldn't think it'd be so hard?

There is a strange yellow ball in the sky. I heard rumours of such a thing. Hopefully I will not scare it away and bring back the monsoon rains. (shudder)

I am waiting for the Service Master team to arrive and give me a quote. Please let it be an easy (read- inexpensive) fix. Keeping my fingers crossed. I do not want to give up any vital organs.

DH returned to work today and the kiddos go back to school tomorrow.

    2007 Continues to be bad.....

Yes, 2007 so far, stinks! Service Master was just here. Nice people, btw. We have a lot of water in the carpet, padding and in the wall. So, now we contact our friendly "like a good neighbour" insurance and pray an adjuster gets his/her bum here to declare it a total loss. I am not hopeful. I am crossing my fingers that an adjuster gets here before 4:30, and makes a ruling, because then at least I will know and can have Service Master come back tomorrow morning and do something.

Forgot to mention the high humidity in my house resulting in copious amounts of condensation on my windows. *sigh*

    Jen,
the good news is that your area is not a disaster area so you won't get a stressed out adjuster at your house (like my DH this month)
also, let us know if you have any trouble with him/her and my DH will tell you what to ask them to get them to perform the way you need them too.

Adjusters are human beings, I live with and love one a lot.

X, i am thrilled that when you see a cat you think of me. I wish I could wash my private parts that way too, but i'm too stiff and old to even try it.

I am doing my best not to have a nervous breakdown

Thanks Mimi. We have never filed a claim before, ever, fo anything. So this is all new to us. If insurance does not deam it a "disaster", I am at a loss. The water damage is almost to my aquarium, which means it is well beyond my original belief it had only spred 6'x6'.

I fully realise there are far worse things in the world. We can live on concrete. We will still have our house, clothing, food. Things could be much worse.

I'm wishing for warmer weather for the New Year - got out for a short ride yesterday - today is 39 feels like 30 with wind chill; and the only time I can ride is before and after work - Want to guess what the temps are then?

Won't put my carbon fiber giant on the trainer - guess I might have to bite the bullet and fix my old road bike up to ride on the trainer - what a pain tho, it needs tires, a saddle - which means i have to steal a saddle off of one of the bikes I do ride . . . .

I signed up for a tennis class that starts next week - just need to find something to do that is different.

All you California gals want to send that warmer weather my way?

BMO - that really sucks. Here's hoping that the adjuster gives you good news and that your deductible is reasonable.

Jen I'm so sorry. I have my fingers crossed for you.

I don't know where the good CA weather is. It's foggy here. Good hot chocolate weather.

BMo3 - ((hugs)) girl. Sorry to hear about the soggy sitch you're in. I'm hoping it all works out quickly for you one way or 'nother.

I'm back from the dregs of the flu bug. At least my munchkin didn't get sick - yeah! So New Years was mellow. We spent some quality time outside playing in the snow/ice and the fresh air was fantastic. Now I'm back to work with renewed interest and more organized at home.

I read "Ain't no mountain high enough" by Linda Armstrong Kelly, Lance's mom over the weekend. I liked it - I enjoyed reading about her outlook on life and can see she passed it on to her son. It renewed some of my worn out mommy energies too. A very good and recommended read.

Off to donate to Good Will and pay the mortgage. Fun, fun!

    Jen is losing it!

Yes, I am now referring to myself in third person. DH is driving me batty. We are playing phone tag. He calls me to find out what Service Master said. I tell him, he calls the insurance company who tells him it is Service Master who must declare it a loss. I tell him Service Master says an adjuster must come out. He stops listening, I lose it and tell him to contact Service Master and the insurance company, ASAP. He then tells me I need to calm down (really? ). At which point I remind him that I requested him to be here when Service Master came, since I knew a game of phone tag would follow.

Update: The nice Service Master guy, who just got to Cinci has to come back here to pull back the carpet. DH *thinks* maybe he should come home. I am off to look for the money tree.

...still in damp, and moldy Ohio and needing a drink!

Well, since Veronica says there is no good weather in California to be sent my way either, I went home at lunch and put tires on my old road bike and realized that I had an old saddle on it right now - don't know how long I can ride that saddle on the trainer - mmm we shall see.

It wasn't that bad - I just don't want to ride the trainer again for months
I hate this time of year.

I learned this weekend that the gal who I cannot stand is going to teach the Foundation Cycling spinning class this year - I just cannot stomach listening to her for a 75 minute class - she never shuts up and she is always talking about how she did something better than the person before her! Gag me
