I'm not gonna be able to call him "Small Knot" for much longer... sigh. He's 13. His father grew 8 inches in one year (at age 13) and so far SKnot has grown about 3 or 4 since his last birthday. And a couple weeks ago his voice started to crack.
He'll be a tall one, lots of over-six-footers in both sides of his family. He's already up to my eyebrows, so I'm guessing he's about 5'6". I should measure him again.
"If Americans want to live the American Dream, they should go to Denmark." - Richard Wilkinson
He's already almost as tall as my older sprout. He'll leave them in the dust.
My family and my husband's family specialize in folks under 5'2" so I was quite relieved when my sons made it to 5'6" and 5'9"!!
At 15 baby bear grew 1cm and went through his change of voice all in one week ... while I was away at a conference. I missed all the cracking and swooping and squeeking. I said goodbye to him eyeball to eyeball (5.9") in soprano, and felt my neck click backwards when he said welcome home as a baritone. Until then he'd been among the shortest boys in his class. He's now 6' 6.5" and hopefully done at last. Be prepared to watch S-knot soar upwards. The clothes size surprises sound like an early warning of a growth spurt that may last several years.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
oh, yeah, that reminds me. when my older son was in 6th grade (12 or 13 )
we went camping for a week. The last day of camping we told him to put on his shoes. He couldn't! he'd grown 2 shoe sizes in that week.
Try Kohl's (no affiliation other than I spend too much money there). I never pay more than $18 for jeans for the guys. All my guys wear slims and it does get tricky when they keep growing taller. My oldest is 5'8 now and still fits in the "juniors" section of Urban Pipeline (Kohl's) and Levis 550 Student.
Best of luck jean shopping.

Hi, ladies. I haven't been around much because I am too tired to ride very often these days, but I thought I'd check in here and see how everyone is doing.
Me, I am currently eight and a half weeks pregnant with twins. Not for long, they tell me: one of them has been faltering from the get-go and they think I'll probably lose that one, although it's hiding behind its sibling so we won't know for sure for a few more weeks. Either way my doctors are pretty confident that the other twin is fine and is unlikely to be affected by the loss of its sibling. And we will be very happy with one healthy baby.
In the meantime, I feel like I am pregnant with twins: I am sick and tired and sleeping twelve hours a day. I have no activity restrictions at the moment -- "exercise while you can," is what they told me -- which is good, because when I can drag myself out we have been doing a little mountain biking, and I narrowly avoided my first endo. Something to tell the kid after it arrives.
Congrats Xeney! I carried twins and was told neither would make it. They are both here and quite healthy.Did they doctors mention anything about TTTS? Offer up any opinions as to why they think one twin will not thrive? Have you been seeing a Perinatologist who specializes in high risk, multiple birth pregnancies? Feel free to contact me off list. Congratulations Xeney! I don't know anything about twins but hopefully BMO3 can give you advice and support. Hugs from me and hugs to the little ones too.
I can attest to the overnight growth. My son keeps wanting me to measure him and for weeks, it's nothing, and then one day, he's grown another inch. I'm sure it happens overnight. Sometimes I think I'd like to measure him daily to see if that's true.
I managed to splash hot bacon fat on my chest this morning. Now I have several blisters right close to a pretty sensitive spot. Owie...Glad I'm not breast-feeding right now.

Thanks, everyone. Jennifer, they are in separate sacs so I was told that TTTS was not a concern. And right now Baby B's faltering is almost certainly due to chromosomal issues that can't be avoided or prevented, so they aren't even considering me high risk unless/until Baby B makes it to the ten-week mark. Right now they have this classed as a "vanishing twin," even though it hasn't vanished yet!
