A little voice in my head was tell me to send you a pm earlier this week - I should have paid attention Maybe next time. I wasn't sure anyone was going to show with forecast calling for 45mph winds and dust storms
I almost went over 74 to the 215 - It was a kidnapping with a police shooting - probably should have

I spent a few minutes on the trainer before heading to Evansville to join my parents and brothers in an early Christmas celebration. I had hoped to spend at least an hour on the trainer/bike but spent the morning at the clinic where I work part-time with my kitten Twister. She started squinting last night and I wanted her eye checked out before everyone disappeared for the holiday weekend. Eye seems to be okay - no scratch found, possible infection so we came home armed with a triple antibiotic ointment.

My family also surprised me with a birthday cake (birthday is still 10 days away). They usually tell me if we are going to celebrate early so this one took me surprise - nice to spend it with family for I'm typically alone on my birthday. My brother/sister-in-law gave me a TE shirt (Hill Slug) and matching socks! I'm such a slug on my recumbent but I've promised myself I'm going to get better in 2007.

So the few miles (a grand 7) on the trainer this morning did not offset the prime rib dinner and ice cream birthday cake I enjoyed with my family today. I guess I'll have to ride tomorrow to work some of it off and prepare myself for all the calories I'll take in on Christmas day when I return to Evansville to spend the day with my parents, younger brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew.

I rode my trainer today too. 1 hour 10. Thank God for the iPod. I also tried to swim but I recently strained my shoulder so I ended up getting out of the pool early.

We had about a foot of snow today so riding outside was out of the question. But lucky for me, the snow was perfect for snowman construction so my DH and I made a lovely, gender neutral snow person, complete with carrot nose, terra cotta pieces for eyes and fabulous sticks for arms. My DH even donated a hat to the cause. It was fabulous, I haven't made a snow man since I was a teenager.

    Aaaaahhh. Life is good.

Rode 63 km in the rain. Rather unpleasant, but once you're wet you're wet. 4 celcius, too. (About ... hum, 37 F?) Eventually my right toes became really cold but that was after over two hours on the bike. My booty got sore, too, I hadn't been in the saddle for so long in a while... I think I totally bonked on the way back but I was too cold and tired to fetch my bars in my coat pocket so with 5 km to go I just rode home...

Why so persistent? I still have 240 km to ride before January the 1st!!! (And that's after counting today's 63.) I'm going to try to get a 50 tomorrow, and then it will have to be crushed in on the 29th, 30th and 31st, because there will be no other time! There better be no other windstorm!!!!

Glad to read everyone else is riding, it's motivating!

Did 34 miles yesterday, and have 73 miles to go for my goal by year end. Gonna try to get 25 in today before I head to DC for Christmas, and hope for decent weather next weekend to complete it.
