OTG - Well, I'm finally getting around to buying the bike for my other niece on my way home tonight. I had to wait until I had the rack on. No way was I going through what I went through the first time in get the smaller one into the back of that thing. I'm so in the Christmas spirit after having been to Ohio.
Kit - Your ears were tingling cuz of all those rings you've got in them. It's called nerve damage woman!!![]()

I can't wait to go back to Ohio. Definitely one of the best getaways I've ever had. Makes me start to re-think my spring vacation pick. Hey BMo3, wanna come along to the PNW? At least for a long weekend? It would be fun. (Really.) So can ya, huh?I was 10 minutes late for work today. I had them make me a new name badge so everything is relatively ok. *sigh* I never did find out what kind of animal I hit on my way home. (interesting timing that you were on the phone with me and heard it thump) No damage to the front of the Jeep that I can see though.
Long day at work. Very tired still but happy about it all the same. I've still got to unrack the bike and clean it all up. (I know, I know, bike neglect. Bad X, no cookie for me.) Good thing it's locked onto the rack. Hey, at least I fed the fish when I got home. (S.O. forgot.) None of them were floating but they were eyeing each other up suspiciously...
X.
Oh, that's gonna bruise...![]()

funny you should mention it- my fish died while I was gone. hm. *sigh*
Finally got around to making dinner, throwing stuff in the wash, and sitting down at the computer.
Not as tired as some, but then again, it IS only 6:30.
My dentist appointment went fine. I kept up my cavity-free streak.<-- so everybody can see my perty smile. They didn't know about gluten in toothpaste, but said they'd be interested in having a list after I research it. (preliminarily, it looks like some version of Crest, many of Colgate and all of Tom's Natural are gluten-free.)
Kit: Sorry about your fish.
X: Sat is a discussion for elsewhere.Sorry to hear about the animal hit -- glad the Jeep looks OK.

"Keep plugging along. The finish line is getting closer with every step. When you see it, you won't remember that you are hurting, that anything has gone wrong, or just how slow or fast you are.
You will just know that you are going to finish and that was what you set out to do."

Oooh, forgot to tell you - our kokanee salmon eggs started hatching today! Last September, I got to squeeze the eggs and milt for the mom and dad. Now they are alevin with egg sacs attached to their bellies. In early spring, they will change into fry and we get to start feeding them. In May, we release the little fish into the creek where they belong. Too cute...
Last year we had a two-headed fish. I called him Jacob Two-Two. He lived quite a long time. I've got a picture of him somewhere that I will post when if I can find it.

That is very cool! I wish our rivers were in better health for fish. There arevirtually no salmon rivers left anywhere in the NE, even into the Maritimes. Even with the addition of fish ladders, it's just been very hard to keep any populations going. But we can always hope and keep working to better the odds for them.
Our school is part of a program sponsored by the Ministry of Fisheries. They educate the public, bring in the spawning salmon, provide all the materials, and we babysit the eggs, then the alevin, and the fry for the winter/spring. The schools act as nurseries for the baby salmon and then we release them into the wild in the spring. The kids are so interested in all of it. My friend is the teacher-librarian at our school and she organizes it all. My class gets very involved and we help to "milk" the salmon in the fall, then we feed them 3-4 times a day in the spring. I even have to go into the school several times a day during spring break to feed the little guys so we get pretty attached. It is so cool to release them later.
