Awwwwww man! My oven just broke like two days ago really bad timing! I usually start baking the week before christmas and i can't! This oven is only like 6 years old and we keep replacing this one part. It is now the third time this part has broke. We don't even call a repair guy now cuase we know what 's wrong. Hopefully we will have the part by tuesday! But I wanted to bake this weekend.

Same thing happened to me right before T'giving a few years ago. I procrastinated about getting the GE guy out to fix it and didn't have a working oven for two or three months. At least you'll have it repaired in time to get some cookie baking in before the end of the holidays. :-)

Oh Gosh! Murphy's Law strikes again. If something can go wrong, it will -- and that at the worst possible time. As when our dishwasher suddenly sprung a leak a couple weeks back just as we were halfway through the second load of Thanksgiving dishes.

Suggestion: Are you good friends with a neighbor? How about you make enough cookie dough for two families worth (of some variety) and then take it over to the neighbor's to bake it, offering them half the cookies as "oven rent"? Maybe make it a "baking bee"?
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

My oven too went out 4 days before thanksgiving. I couldn't get anyone to come out until afterwards. i learned to BBQ turkey that year. It was really yummy. But i don't think cookies will work on the bbq. i just cant believe this is happening again the same exact part too!
