Today I had a work seminar to go to, and inspired by a friend of mine who did the same thing recently I decided to bike up to the hotel (Duck: Voksenåsen, up on Holmenkollåsen, one of the highest hills around Oslo). So instead of my usual 35-40 minute commute along a fairly flat route I swung off after 30 min and headed up, and up, and UP. Feeling fairly fit and pleased with myself, until I noticed time was running out, the road sure got narrow, I wasn't absolutely sure where I was, and where the H*LL did that hotel get to...
I ended up scrambling through the woods, carrying my bike around a fence and finally bursting through the door with five minutes to spare...
The up side? Lots of credit from everybody, taking a shower in the next coffee break, and after having biked hard for almost an hour and half - being able to eat four desserts for lunch without feeling guilty
(What still bugs me, though, is that I managed to mess up my bike computer before leaving, so I don't know how many km I can brag about tomorrow...)

it's beautiful!
so how do you pronounce the "A" with the little circle above it?
just like the word "awe", actually.
Norwegian has three extra vowels (don't know if these will show properly on screen in the states):
æ - which is an "a" and an "e" written together, and pronounced like the "a" in "hat"
ø - an "o" and an "e" written together, pronounced like the "e" in "her"
