Nope. Library school. Wanna go back to what I did for 10 years, but wanna be a science or medical librarian.

No visitors from CA, but I'm going back down for a week next Tuesday!

Evening TD. Been busy having the "we've decided to get married" chat with my 8 yo son. He took it well and is excited. Wants to be a part of the ceremony. I suggested holding the rings, he would rather be the minister...

DAR - congrats on the new car. I'd like a 4 WD but will be content with my FWD for now. Too bad about the 6 hour trip. I'd have been tempted to say, well I just drove three hours so I'm going to make a quick stop to give him a hug and say hello... Hope you're feeling better by the time you read this. We've had lots of tummy flu going around here. Glad I'm done with it.

Allezgirl - Happy Birthday. Depending on what time zone you're in, this may be a day late. How old are ya?

I was thinking about CWR and the typhoon ever since I heard about it. Guess it's just a good thing she didn't go a couple of days earlier..

X - we must be about the same age because we like the same music...

Nanci - so glad to hear Addy is starting to eat! I take it the first mouse stayed down/ How often will she eat once she's "regular"?

Knot - did you put any liquid in that beef and mushroom crockpot? I've been reading about cooking meat without any liquid and can't quite fathom it. Good luck with your application!

OTG - isn't it amazing how much your weight can fluctuate even in one day?

    Dar - here's the Cole's notes version.

DH and I have sort of known each other for about 15 years. We used to live about 1/2 mile from each other when we were both married to other people and our kids went to school together although not in the same grades. His wife actually did some work with my husband at one time. Then for the past 5 years, we've worked together at the same school although we never really "noticed" one another at all. He was divorced but in a fairly long-term relationship and I was unhappily married. Two years ago, in fall, I had just separated and he had just split up with girlfriend the previous spring. He was trying to get the staff to go out to do stuff since he was alone a lot and I was looking for something to keep my mind off being alone too. We started to notice each other a little and started to email as well as talk more at work. We had always sat together at the same table for lunch anyway. We emailed a lot about music and our philosophies of life. I think the email really helped us to open up in a way that may never have happened otherwise, and I have kept all the emails just for fun becasue you can really see how the relationshiop was developing. Then for fun, he invited me to be his date to the staff Christmas party and I thought it would be an easy first date since I had no designs on him. One thing led to another and we started dating more seriously. Unfortunately some people didn't even know I was separated then so it became a bit of the "talk" of the town but we didn't hide anything since we had no reason to. All the kids and teachers thought it was pretty interesting that these two teachers were dating especially since we live in the same community as our school and we run into kids everywhere we go. Last summer we moved in together and then this weekend, he proposed. It's all been very romantic and fun and we really didn't talk much about marriage before now because I really wanted to wait to be properly asked this time round. Anyway, I truly think we were meant to be together, our paths have crossed so many times but the time has never been right. He really is my soul mate and we think alike on so many issues that it makes life easier. Of course, we both understand what is truly important in life now and we know how to keep the love alive I think. We're more romantic and affectionate and in love now than we were a year ago, and I doubt it'll ever really change all that much.

OK that was longer than Cole's notes, I know.

    Med/science librarian--cool idea.

    Gooooooooooooooddddd Addy.

I REALLY love the "take a drink of water and spell my name backwards before I swallow it" hiccup remedy. I am going to dribble and drool huge quantities of water all over myself when I try that, and I find it so amusing that I AM going to try it.

Dar, I would have been upset too.

Just for a little variety from work, I would like someone to pay me to stay in bed tomorrow with a good book. Thank you.

I think I am going to keep Addy on the young snake five day schedule with Inez and Choco. Zee had been fed every week- but he's small- but North American Hognoses are prone to fatty liver disease from over feeding- I don't know if this has been reported in South American Hognoses- they are very distantly related...I think stick to one week just to be safe. Maizey is on 10-14 days.

Knot- you always make the best dinners...Good luck with library school. I have a friend who does that- it sounds like a lot of work. But she gets to travel a lot to conferences!

KG- when I make my 20 garlic chicken in the crockpot- (chicken, garlic stuffed all over it, it lays on a bed of sliced onions) there's no water added but it's in an inch of juice when done...

I bought two pork loins yesterday- hope it's warm enough to grill tonight or tomorrow. I covered my flowers, but it only got to 37F. Supposed to be near freezing tonight again.

Good news, TD! I got up and called Evil Bank of the Empire straight away this morning. I persisted even when it sounded like the "too many options" computer had hung up on me. I insisted on getting a phone number when clueless person #1 wanted to transfer me, 'cuz the last time they transferred me directly into Dial Tone Land. I got Ann on the phone. Ann got Jill on the phone. Jill actually seemed to know what she was doing. Jill assured me that she's stopped my auto pay and is (again) refunding the $300 they helped themselves to. I wanted to say, "Now, if I had 300 of your dollars, you'd be charging me 29% percent interest, I see here on the statement. Are you going to pay me 29% interest since you took $300 from me on 11/18? Hmmmm?" But I didn't push it. I just want the madness to stop. I feel better, because I've budgeted so carefully and couldn't figure out why my balance got so low last payperiod (I thought this was a different auto pay). Phew.

Migraine all gone. I tend to try other things--Tylenol, Motrin, rubbing my neck, drinking some caffeine--before I think, "this could be a migraine", and take the Maxalt. Then, 1/2 hr later, when the pain is all gone, and I feel slightly dizzy, I realize, "yep. Definitely a migraine." I love that medicine.

KG, I love your story, and am delighted to hear of your impending nuptuals!

Knot, congrats on getting started! You're right, you've described the whole process pretty well. I am encouraged for the human race that 4 people apply for every one position in library school.

Windows covered with frost. Computer says it's 11 degrees out. Think I won't try running today. I will walk (well bundled) to the el later and go downtown to have lunch with J.

    And Happy Birthday, Kitsune!

'Morning TD. It was a balmy -1.5 degrees this morning Umm, brrrrrr!

Happy Birthday Kit! So what are your bday plans for the day?

I got 4 Christmas cards yesterday - that made my day

KG - thanks for sharing your story You two sound so happy. I'm glad your son is also happy with it, I know it's hard when they aren't on the same page. Keep us posted on the wedding plans!

Knot, good luck with grad school apps. You'll get in - just cook them a meal and hand deliver it with the application. In like Flynn I say!

Still not feeling the best this morning but at least no hurling. The boss is out sick today though. I asked the cleaning guy to lysol everything down last night but no one else listens to me around here

OTG - I finally lost a pound, hehe. Got to start somewhere cuz you motivate me. Awesome that your pants are falling down - isn't that a great feeling?!

My car is officially possessed (actually, it must have electrical shorts). My interior lights, brake lights and dash lights flash periodically when they want too. I hope I don't get pulled over for it cuz that would be hard to explain.

    Thank you, ladies!

    B-day plans are as follows:
As a surprise gesture, my prev. manager took me out to dinner last night. We ended up chatting for around 3 hours. Lots of fun.
Got home, and waited for DGF b/c she'd be home soon at that point. got my 1st b-day present at midnight-- windblock, fuzzy, insulated pants so I can wear 'em on my commute!

then sleep... but since it's a full moon, I woke up, totally awake a few times. Oh well.

DGF is meeting me at 12:15ish for lunch @ work, taking me to go have sushi (whee!) and meet my new mgr...

Not sure about this evening, but I'm sure I'll manage something spontaneous and fun. Or quiet and relaxing. either way. Oh, and this evening I get to pick Miz Cakes up from the shop; presumably a whole new bike after all the work that's being done. What a deal!

Hugs to all you TD ladies, just in case I don't get back on here today~!

I'm gonna puke. Or cry. Or both.

I took the GRE back in the early 90's. I studied my butt off, I got fabulous scores. (better than a certain physics PhD i know) Put them away in a file box. Lost the file box somewhere in the basement where I used to live. Someone found that file box recently. I asked her to send me my scores. She hates me so much she shredded them instead.

I figured no problem, I'll just have the scores sent directly to the grad school.

Called GRE this morning. Nope. They purge all scores after 5 years. I have to retake the test. That'll be about 6 months.

I'm not applying to grad school this year.

    Better luck in 2008.... damm.

(silver lining: I won't be stressing about my apps while I'm on vacation next week. )
(silver lining #2: I can bust my butt to save some money and find cheaper housing, too.)
(silver lining #3: I can justify buying a pair of running tights AND a new pair of running shoes, cuz now I need retail therapy. Right?)

    Happy birthday, Kit!

MtD: Sorry to second that, but yes, that is exactly what my car did before the alternator died. The WORST part was when it started doing that, I took it to the dealer to get fixed. Dealer couldn't find ANYthing wrong. Three days later, I'm stranded on the side of the road at 1:30 a.m. because I was coming home from work (nights at the time). It takes a good 2 hours to get a tow at that time of night. I was so mad.

But congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome work.

I'm peeved because I just had a fight with two co-workers over a comma in an important document. Sure, let's not ask the person who does this for a living. Let's just completely ignore every rule and add them willy nilly. Like, it's, so, great, to keep, using, commas, all, the, time. Sorry. I'm a little testy.
