Lower than what? I make a granola with 1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup honey, about 8 cups of rolled oats, and ~2 cups of other things.
Oil is good, grease is better.

I have never made any. And I know in the stores granola in about 7 and up grams of fat. What kind of oil do you use? do you have a recipe. See my neighbor gave me a gallon bag of almonds from he's farm and i would like to use them.

    I use Canola oil.

    1/2 cup oil
    1/2 cup honey
    1 Tbsp vanilla

Heat in large heavy pot (I use cast-iron dutch oven) until thin. Then stir in, in order:

    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup sesame seeds
    1 cup sunflower seeds
    1 cup wheat germ
8 cups rolled oats (not quick or instant)

When all ingredients are coated with the oil-honey mixture, place pot in oven and turn to 350F. Stir every 5 minutes (though you can wait 10 minutes in the beginning while the oven is heating) until toasted.

You can replace the sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and wheat germ with anything you want, like almonds or pecans or soy protein or coconut. Dried fruit or pre-toasted nuts can be added after the granola cools.
Oil is good, grease is better.

Here is the granola recipe my mom uses at my parents B&B. I have made it lots of times, substituting ingredients depending on what I find in the bulk bins at the health food store. It makes the house smell wonderful. As I recall, I have sometimes reduced the oil and increased the orange juice to compensate. This is not a "chunky" granola - because it is lower in fat, the ingredients don't clump together - which makes no difference to me. I eat it with fat-free vanilla yogurt, but it's also good with milk.

    Granola Pecan Tree Inn

    (makes 6 cups)

    4 cups rolled oats
    ½ cup wheat germ
    ½ cup rolled wheat flakes
    ½ - 1 cup chopped nuts
    ¼ cup sesame seeds
    1/3 cup sunflower seeds
    ½ teaspoon salt

    6 Tablespoons vegetable oil
3 Tablespoons water or orange juice
    6 Tablespoons honey
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup dried cherries, cranberries, or raisins (any dried fruit)

Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. Whisk wet ingredients together in small mixing bowl. Pour over dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Spread in 2 shallow pans or cookie sheets.

Bake at 225 for 60 minutes – 75 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes. (Granola will be crunchier if baked for full 75 minutes). The granola will not brown a great deal. Cool completely and then mix in dried fruit.

(This recipe is flexible. You can vary the ingredients to your taste as long as the proportion of dry ingredients to wet remains essentially the same. You may have trouble finding wheat flakes; if so, just leave them out).
