Dear Silver,
This was not an easy post for me to read just now, but I'm glad I did and I'd like to thank you for it. You may have noticed in a recent thread under "Crazy Drivers" (unless maybe you're avoiding that field for now) that Trek420, UK Elephant and I just lost a family member in a truck-against-bike accident. In that thread there's a lot of criticism against a journalist in my hometown paper. Her article is full of unnecessarily gory details. Yours, on the other hand, focuses on the emotional details and handles the cyclist's body and soul with great dignity. Your piece shows a positive (and in terms of preventing future accidents, I'm sure at least equally effective) way of writing about such tragedies, as opposed to the sensationalism that seems to get published. Thank you, and best wishes for your continued healing.

Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
