Imagine, what are the odds that a couple could exist where both the woman and the man are seriously into long-distance cycling and they wear the same size shorts and they are so anatomically similar that they'd be equally comfortable borrowing eachothers bikes for multi-hour long distance rides?
Oh, my husband and I could wear each other's shorts. He's given me shorts before where he didn't like the chamois, and while he wouldn't borrow mine because I'd kill him, he bought his last pair based on a pair that I had. (He bought the men's version, but they were nearly identical.) The differences between men's and women's shorts are not that dramatic, I've found. If all of mine were dirty and he had a clean pair, I am pretty sure I could ride in them and never notice the difference.

But he's the one who told me about the used bike short ebay ads and the particular fetish for dirty bike shorts, so I think he'd think this was a troll, too!

It would probably be a good idea for ol cali to go for a ride with a te gal

Yep, Cali, I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and go riding with some TE gals. There's absolutely no way you beat a bunch of in shape guys on the road on your mountain bike! I've been riding with the guys for a long time and that is just darn near impossible unless you are Juli Furtado or something!

that is what they said... that is what they told me. my guess is that it was all smoke and mirrors... they may have "never lost a race" but how many races did they actually race? and against whom? they had a false sense of confidence and i'm guessing they've only been cycling for less than a year... if that

My DH and I, too, can wear the same stuff. We generally don't (we have borrowed each other's no-chamois tights, however, when other stuff was in the laundry), and I'm making a concerted effort to get more "girly" jerseys, so...well, he wouldn't be wearing those.

Thom and I wear the same size and ride the same size bike. So it's possible. It's definitely weird... and I'd probably be looking for a new boyfriend if he was really into wearing my dirty shorts.

And all of you who are saying men are gross... My guy isn't! Or is that ain't?

Finally, why the assumption that this person is a troll? It's certainly not the first odd post we've had. And if you're put off by what she had to say, remember what your mother told you. I'll leave that bit to your imagination.

Back off guys. If you think she's a troll ignore her posts, but don't make her feel unwelcome here. My husband would do exactly the same thing. He is much taller than me, and rides a much larger framed bike, but once he visited me on cape cod, pulled out my daughters bike (way too small), jacked up the seatpost to the max insertion line, and went for it. He wears the same shorts for a week without washing, and yes, he gets the shorts that I don't like the chamois on and wears them too. Not all guys care that much about any of this stuff, if its a choice of riding or not riding.

BF and I are the same size as well. We ACCIDENTLY borrow each others shorts (they were on sale, just a minor brand. They look IDENTICAL and we each have three pair!!) It annoys me when he steals my last pair of clean lycra instead of his own! I hate his chamois and could never wear them!

But I do borrow his clean cycling socks when I've run out Shouldn't be a problem now with all the SS going ons...

But We've never worn each other's dirty lycra! EWE that's just gross.

I won't even wear my own dirty lycra.....but, I have a friend who did the AIDS Ride (seven days in a row riding) and he only had one pair of shorts. He'd wear them one day and the next day he would turn them inside out and wear them again. And then he'd reverse the process -- never washing them all week. His feeling was that by wearing the chamois outside, it was getting clean and disinfected in the sun and wind.

Oh, and he was 22 at the time. I guess young kids like CaliGirl's boyfriend (and my AIDS Ride buddy) have different standards than middle-aged women like us!
