I'm having a "rest" week this week so instead of my usual tueaday afternoon 40 mile ride home from work, I did a 20 mile leisurely ride north of where I live. Nice country lanes and thach cottages and the sun came out all afternoon.

Hmm, time to change to winter socks. Temperature was 34 degrees and the windchill was 29 and I went out in a pair of summer, lightweight socks. Guess who had really cold toes when she got to work? Other than that, my commute was nice and boring. Saw two other commuters, both bundled up against the cold and lighted against the dark. Nice to still see other bikers despite the dropping temps.

40 degreesF today, cloudy, breezy.
Did my now usual "figure eight" 20 mile ride through the countryside.
Bundled up nicely, and all parts of me were fine except my fingers and toes got a bit cold- time to switch to heavier double socks and heavier biking gloves.
My SmartWool helmet liner works great- keeps my ears from freezing too. May need to use two when it gets colder.
On my way home I stopped in town at the bakery to get fresh bread, and who should pull up on his bike but my wonderful DH, looking G-O-O-D in his Lycra! So we had a nice lunch in town together before going back home.

My booties leak, my new Sidi's got wet on their third day of life, and I am soo tired after three days straight of riding (usually I take a day off in the middle). But other than the bucketing rain this morning ... and the bucketing rain I had to ride through *after* working out and showering for work at the gym so arrived with mascara down my cheeks and dripping hair ... it was a good ride in, and at least it's not raining at the moment, so the ride home should be dark but dry.
Oh, scratch that. It's raining. Sigh.![]()
I actually broke out the full-on rain jacket this morning, instead of the shells I've been wearing, and it kept me dry and happy. And it was way too big - yay for me and those lost 54 lbs! Whee!
Whoa!!!! 54 pounds?? You GO, girl!!!! I'm surprised you get wet at all in the rain- I'd think you could just dodge between the raindrops!![]()

I logged 14 miles on my bike this afternoon in my living room. Sadly, the cold weather has arrived and as my BF has said, I'm a weather wimp. So the bike is now on my trainer and I'm looking forward to spring and being out on the road (April seems so far away at the moment). So while I pedaled today I graded a set of papers and took in the national and local news.
