Here's another Diablo pic. It gives you a better sense of the road. It's taken on the road, just below the 2000 foot mark.
And another of my favorites from the mountain...

I love mountain flowers!
thanks V!
I do not post here very often anymore...no horrible reason just trying to avoid the "guilts" at work for not doing what I should be...I do however continue to lurk and absorb all the wonderful stories and accomplishments! (in the evening...hehe) Well done girls...now to share my views from this last weekend...
Cheers!![]()
I am a nobody; nobody is perfect, and therefore I am perfect.
Thanks for those beautiful shots! My mother went up to her mountain property (Ashe county, NC) this weekend and said that the leaves were just stupendous this year. From your photos, I can see that she was not kidding. Even here in central NC, the trees are getting awfully pretty!

The pix in this thread continue to surprise and captivate me! One of these days I'll remember to take my camera along on one of my own rides!

Here are some photos from my trip to the homeland (Crested Butte). Trail 401 is a must-do, and offers something different every month in the progression from spring flowers to summer corn lily and cow parsnip 4 feet high slapping your legs to amazing autumn aspen leaves. I was up there in late July.
Whew, I made it!
View at the top, turned slightly left from the last pic. The faint trail in the center is the old way up. The trail to the right is the new, improved re-route.
Turn a little more to the left and it's time to drop in!
Damn, this is fun!!

Still descending![]()
!! Mt. Crested Butte is the prominent lacolith on the right. See the valley floor? That's where I came from, and where I'm headed

Beyond that sign is Forest Service Wilderness, the other direction is plain ol' Forest Service, without any "mechanized transport" restriction. Actually, this was one of the key trails/areas used to justify denying bikes access to Wilderness when they rewrote the law. Funny they'll let 1000 lb. horses on the trail, tho.

I guess they figure that horses will fertilize the wildflowers. LOL
Seriously though- glad to be reassured about you following the rules!I think they look at foot or hoof prints as being less disturbing to the ground than rolling tires- when I think of it that way it makes more sense.
