This is interesting--I'm hearing the music I run to in the background at Kona. Tom Petty, Katrina and the Waves, Three Doors Down.

OMG, you guys. Those of you who've done an IM have all my respect. I've done 4 Int'l distance tris, and each one feels so long to me. It's one-quarter of the distance. I do not know how you do it. What toughness, mentally and physically.

But Lise that is where the mind comes in. My coach once told me, if you tell your mind "I'm going to run 8 miles" it conditions itself to that distance and rarely will you feel like running longer. But you will be able to handle the distance. So if you tell yourself "i'm going to do an IM. It's going to be long, and it's going to be hard, but if I take the race in little chunks I CAN do it" you will be sucessful. It's all up top! You can't let your mind talk you out of it. You just have to know how to mentally break it up. And well, or course, you have to TRAIN. There is just no easy way around that. But if you put your miles in it will take you to the finish line race day.

    Michellie!!!

I have a huge grin on my face. What a champion!

I always think of her as "Denise's girl, Michellie" cuz she was so good to you at IMAZ. That's the heart of triathlon for me.

I agree! I also love Natascha badmann. She is another class act. She's actually my idol!
I'm just loving this coverage! I wish I could tape it!! The nbc coverage will pale in comparison I'm sure. They'll use the earthquake angle I'm sure...
