Pets that choose US, versus the other way around, are such a treat!
(of course, they're all great! - but I tend to gravitate towards bunnies! Since I seem to have the ONLY bunnies on this forum, I thought I'd post my bridge bunny, Nike (1992-1999), the little fuzz-ball who started it all for me. He's a bit "crooked" from a raging inner ear infection that he had (at this point) recovered from, but which left him with chronic head tilt (or, wry neck).
Nike chose me - so glad he did. So did Noah. Noah chose Tasha at an adoption day for the House Rabbit Society. You can tell: Tasha won't give me the time of day, but Noah is definitely all mine.

I've really read up on foxes, and I think I could handle the odour, but it's the idea that they'd need so much more space (and that I don't see myself leaving Oregon any time soon) Maybe I can get a special license from the state.... I always used fox pee cover scent for deer hunting, and it was never anywhere near as offensive as anything else.

Regina- I love your bunny. The head tilt makes him unique, I think. Glad the infection is in remission as of now. You've got to be careful- they can come back pretty easily. (My parents have a cat that has recurrent ear infections- nasty ones. She's deaf as a result. )

Annie- I'm a believer in Sanskrit names- they bestow their energy on anyone who speaks and hears them. My suggestion then is Bandhu- it translates into "Friend"

Thanks, all , for the name suggestions! I am making a list and letting the family vote......... Decision will be made on Tuesday night. (I take him to the vet on Wed. morning and would like to have a name to give them. )

Regina - Love the name Tasha! My son has a guinea pig by that name and she's a sweetie! Never had much experience with a bunny, tho' I've heard they can be difficult to care for?

Annie - I've always loved the name Natasha, but it seemed like such a "big" name for such a little bunny! Bunnies aren't difficult, they just require some adjustments that are different from those you might make for a cat or dog. Rabbits are kind of unique.

Since bunnies are famous for their procreation urges, spaying is a must (helps with the smells, behavior issues, and overall health, too). They are also famous for chewing (their teeth are constantly growing so they need to chew to keep them trim) so they must be provided with better things to chew than your walls, wires, etc. Once you learn a bit about bunny basics, it's pretty simple. Kitsune06 - unfortunatly, Nike is no longer with me. He died at the vet's a few years ago (knocking them out for surgery is always risky with them). But like your paren't cat, Nike was also deaf - at least in one ear - from his infection. Didn't make him any less special. I was forever telling him "Nike...you're the best bunny in the WHOLE WORLD!"

Here's my pound dog, Jimmy. The name is not very original, but I needed one FAST. To scold him.....for sh***ing in the car on the way home from the pound! Poor dog, I should have walked him more after he left the humane society! Fortunately, that was not a recurring habit! He's 9yo now, and still plays with his "Bear!"

He kind of struck me when he was at the shelter- his eyes are kind of far apart for a cat, but when you rest your forehead against his, you're exactly eye to eye- the way he likes it.

He's very much a 'person in a cat's body'... a silly little person... who pees on things sometimes...

The black one is Annabel Lee (named for the Edgar Allen Poe poem). She is queen of our house. We just got Vladimir (the Russian blue) a couple weeks ago. Annabel hates him and I think prays that he'll go away soon, but they're warming up to each other. I love those little brats!!
Annabel will be 3 in March and has much disdain for everyone, however, she does get frisky when we bring out her sparkly pom-pom balls. (She would be mortified to know that we have a video of her when she was smaller, spinning round and round after a feather-stick.) I think she was royalty in a past life.
Vlad is only 6 months old and has so much life. I've forgotten what it's like to have a kitten in the house. He has three modes, sleep, cuddle, and CRAZED. He's a lot more affectionate than Annabel. He's sort of like a frat boy. "Hey, black cat, you wanna play??" "HISS SPIT GROWL CURSE!!" "Okay, cool, maybe later." (Repeat 10 seconds later.)
Sorry, I have a tendency to go on and on about them. I'm not ready for human babies yet, so I talk about the furry ones incessantly.

That is freakin' hilarious!!! I have a 10 year old Pomeranian and a 3 month old Pom- they act a lot like that--- Kasey ( the coffee cup Pom pictured some pages above) gets in Gizmo's face to say hey lets play- you look like my Momma- what's that pretty long hair on your tail- wanna play- wanna bark - come on let's bark, okay then I'll just yap . . . Gizmo says GRUMPH -get outta my face and let me nap- -
But they are so cute when they come in and sit side by side to wait for treats . . .

OK, it's a bad picture but here are my babies - Zeus is the dark one, a border collie "mamma's boy", 10 years old, and the other beauty is Xena, my 8 year old elkhound mix, with one blue eye and one brown eye. She's a great mouser, too.
