Do you guys ever hear weird things at night? A few months ago, I woke up in the middle of the night. I thought I heard a man walking down the street, laughing. I went over to the window, and finally, after being really scared, decided it was an owl.

Now last night, I heard a thing that sounded like a man trying to bark like a dog, and I heard it in the space of about 30 seconds- first at my neighbors' which was what drew my attention- I went to the window for more information, then suddenly in my front yard, then way across the street in a field. Had to be a bird- but I sure don't know what...I listened to a bunch of owl calls just now, and it doesn't match any of them.

Sorry I missed the fun last night...hey Knotted, how's your head feel?? Mine would feel stuffed with cotton and my tongue would feel carpeted with 1970's orange shag.

    Sage words of hard-won wisdom:
Ladies, DO NOT drink an entire bottle of wine in one sitting.

Wish I had someone to be very quiet and just hold my head while I lie in a dark quiet room and quietly repeat to myself "don't do that again. don't do that again. don't do that again."

Instead of putting underwear on my head, I was putting it in the mail? Lordy, that's some intense red wine! And who did I mail the lampshade to, dear Trek?

Oh, hey, I was so drunk that I forgot the Neilson television folks called last night. I'm gonna be a Neilsen family! I told the chickie on the phone that I sometimes don't watch TV for days, and she laughed. don't think she believed me. Watch out, folks! I'm gonna skew the data on US television viewing!

I'm up early so I can fully enjoy every nuance of the migraine and upset stomach I gave myself. (I'm trying to head off the migraine, but I don't know if I'm gnna be successful.)

    Let's see, what did I drink <rummages in garbage>
Pacific Peak Winery, Cabernet Sauvignon bottled in Ripon, CA
750 ml of high quality rot-gut purchased at the family-owned little grocery store near the ferry dock for a grand total of $3.64 (tax included)

    Think I'm gonna be sick.

NANCI -about those weird noises at night, I am convinced more times than not that someone is walking around my upstairs when there is not supposed to be anyone up there.

But then again, I believe in ghosts too.......

    Try drinking some Gatorade.

The only thing I ever get a headache from is some roses. And only if I drink the whole bottle.

I never could get into Cab. I would imagine that a $3 bottle would be pretty horrifying, though. I think cheap whites are a lot better- like any of the Sutter Home whites, or Beringer Chenin Blanc or Pinot Grigio. Or Sutter Home Zinfandel or Pinot Noir, if you need a cheap red!

BF called to say his partner was going to a dove shoot after work. I said "I hope he shoots himself!" I hope I wasn't on speaker phone...

I think Choco is blue again. That would explain why he didn't come out last night. I totally missed his shed last time. I will have to keep an eye on him. The reason I know is he is sleeping directly on the glass bottom of his viv- and the stand it's on allows me to look underneath.

CyclChyk- here's something really weird. I sleep on a soft-sided waterbed- the kind with just about no water movement. I mean, you can feel it mush around if you roll over, but no waves like the olden days. (Dill sleeps on a waterbed, too-the kind with tubes- you absolutely can't feel _anything_ on that bed!) But anyway, sometimes I will wake up because I can feel the bed moving- like something big is swimming around in it, or like someone has sat on the edge of the bed or laid down or something. It scares the crap out of me, and I have no explanation...

My house itself is pretty quiet. I have motion sensors outside that sound a doorbell if they get set off. Only a couple times has it been a human...I'm an absolute chicken about being home alone. Except for the period of time last winter when I had a shotgun. I need to get one for myself.

    I'm feeling pretty blue myself.

(and somewhat green about the gills)

I'd like to find a quiet place to curl up, too.

Drinking Clif Shot electrolyte right now. As long as I don't move my head, I'm pretty ok. I think I'll go back to bed after I drink some more Clif, water, coffee, Extra Strength Excedrin.

KnottedYet "Think I'm gonna be sick."

"don't do that again. don't do that again. don't do that again." unless splitting the bottle with a TE gal or few.

I'm off to get breakfast and get ready for a bike ride.

I'm kind of thinking about going back to bed, too, till it gets warm out. Maybe first I will take a hot bath. It's up to 54 here! The local Century is next Saturday. I bet it's cold at the start, then gets up to about 80F. I can't decide if I want to start early before the official start, or start with the big pack, or ride with friends, or ride alone...

I had a dream about Boleros last night! I dreamed someone made one, and gave it to me, but it choked me around the neck, and didn't come down far enough to cover up my shoulders. It was a weird dream.

I really, really want this: http://tinyurl.com/y892eu

Maybe if I wait, I can get one on clearance like I got the zip cashmina last year...

Nanci, check out the barred owl. They have an incredible repertoir of sounds, some of them kind of freaky.

    (((Knot)))

I'm at my sister's house in PA. First time I've been here since her cockatiel passed away, so I'm missing Chester. She was 17. Sunny the budgy is still here - but Sunny doesn't like to be held or sit on shoulders. Anyway, good to see my sis. Was visiting a cousin yesterday, and saw the Nat'l Geo place in DC (I should have waved to you, Lise). Also did a bike ride in Silver Springs on the Sligo Creek bike path. I'll try to get my sister out on her bike later today (after I install her new brake pads).

My business trip Wed-Fri was OK. I got away without giving a presentation, so it was low stress. Except then our working group figured out how far behind the previously set schedule we are, and how our science priorities were superseeded by upper management.
