KnottedYet "Oh, goody. I'm an honorary "old people".

Knot, that's not what I meant...

First) martial arts is an activity where age in the sport is a good thing. it takes years to get this clumsy....and then they change everything and I'm a dolt again.

More important) tai chi is not and "old persons" art but....I ride past the edge of Oaklands China town and this square is a large gathering of mostly older Chinese doing Tai Chi every morning.

Lise, glad you're having fun. Let us know what you visit in DC. It is a fabulous place to wander around in--the museums are amazing, I like the different neighborhoods, etc.

I was about to pursue aikido when my back decided to go fibromyalgia on me, and I had to quit ballet after many years and thus KNEW I could never manage aikido--too bad, since I too think aikido is beautiful.

I SMASHED my toe against Mr. Salsa's still-packed suitcase this morning on the way to the bathroom (in the basement dungeon--so it's not like it was actually in my way, just not accustomed to the smaller space configuration). OW OW OW OW OW. My toe is hugely swollen and purple and disgusting and I can't put any weight on it. Wonder how compatible this is with the 60-mile tandem ride planned for tomorrow? AND dammit, REI didn't have the SIDI Dominator size I need, although the guy was immensely useful in helping me figure out what size I really DO need (male regular width 42.5, for those who are interested. The women's shoe is too narrow for me, and TE Goddess Susan Otcenas helped me figure this out. Thank you, Susan. Wish you sold the male shoes; then I could buy them from you).

Why are construction crews such china shop bulls? They've dumped a gajillion nails in our yard, so we're trying to clean them up so a) the cats can go back out without six million nails underfoot and b) whenever I get back to relandscaping and a real garden I won't have to worry about being impaled by large nails every time I dig a hole to plant. Arrr.

Maillotpois, are you running/walking/hiking? How you feeling?

    Fishdoc, are you there yet?

Am assuming that Choco, Maizey, tortoises are well, and Nanci's daughter's bird is getting better. Poor both of them.

I know that's not what you meant, dear Trek. I'm just being an obnoxious drunk frat-boy @ssho1e.

Watching my instructor and his instructor fight taught me that Tai Chi is MUCH more than just old peoples' exercise.

We once did a thing in class where the entire class (I wasn't preggers at the time) tried to push over our instructor. We couldn't do it.

I loved the book "ChiRunning". Man, I followed that book and my running style improved soooooo much. Not enough that I could run in the Danskin Tri, but improved enough that I noticed. Tai Chi applied to gait. Very cool. I've tried to use it with my patients, but it rarely works. They need the whole philosophy first.

No kidding, obnoxious. Watch out, you'll make me act like a 20 something, and that's the last thing anyone wants to see.

Honorary old people my @ss. I can still easily compare you to my age. I might as well be honorary ol--- waitaminute. *points*Margo! You put her up to that, didn't you!? ARGH! *forehead smite!*

Crassy, very crassy. I wanna see how much of this you derete tomorrow.

and Chi pressing is very cool. ex decided to show me, so occasionally, we'd gently nudge each other by extending ki. Weirdos. I now just use it in ki pressing and massage to try to relax tight muscles or make dgf feel better...

on a related note: does anyone here know about seeing auras, or perceiving them? is it too highbrow for the moment?

    Will she respect herself?

I know I'll feel just fine about me in the morning. I just like picking on drunk people. It's fun, but you know, I kid b/c I love. Of course.

    It's ALWAYS SOMETHING.

The other officer is here now, but I have to wait 45 minutes before I can GO HOME. Going CRAZY WAITING. *taps foot restlessly-jiggles leg-drums fingers*

Hey, I respect myself all over the damm place! Now, where's the damm corkscrew?

Don't tell, but I do a lot of aura and energy field work with my manual therapy at my job. My patients like it and they get better, so what's the fuss?

The fuss is just that it's unconventional, ya d@mn hippy!
I'm working on 'seeing' aura, but for me it has to be a very dark room, and I can't look *directly* at it, but I can pick it up in peripheral vision. Pretty nifty stuff. I can feel it better. hot/cold, close, further away, etc. It's uberawesome for tantric excercise, etc.

*sniff* Knot, I wanna respect myself, too. *checks watch* half an hour till I get home.

...the guy on the ad in the humor section needs some help with self-respect, too. Or just to get back on his saddle.

    ...help! I'm a Sag and I can't shut up!

I can't see 'em, I can only feel 'em.

But honey, when I feel 'em, watch out!

I've done some very cool work with energy fields! But I can't say that, I can only document what muscles I've worked on, etc. I think the "field" is the brain's shorthand for something else it's observing. Maybe tension in muscles or something.

(oh, the weird stories I could tell...)

to see them is something else, totally, and you know it when you see it. For me, it often looks like blue/green steam coming from my fingers, just a faint outline, where there's really only enough light to see a silhouette (and my hands should be black-on-black... but doing energy work, you can often actually *see* the cause and effect. it's like steam or vapor. Very cool.

I'm with ya on weird stories. D@mn hippies have all the fun.

I have. When I get a scanner, I'll put the pic online for you. I came out all white/pink/turquoise/blue, with a funny yin-yang energy swirl over my head. H was more pink/blue/green.

mmkay y'all, it's been fun, but I've made enough of an @ss of myself tonight... so I'm going home. To sleep, perchance to dream. And yes, I'll have fun.

You guys were sure talkative last night while I was watching the season two finale of Grey's Anatomy. Talk about a tear jerker... I HATE McDreamy.

I didn't ride my bike yesterday. I'm still freaked out by almost getting hit last Sunday. (All my fault, what a dumbaxx) I put down eight more bags of cypress mulch under my big oak garage tree, and added another two patio blocks, dug in, to my little landing I made by where I park, and moved one flower, a carnation, and planted a lantana, along my stepping stone sidewalk where I envision someday little colorful flowers and edible tortoise plants tucked in the uneven edges of the stones. I hand-picked all the pine needles out of the grass in my tortoise garden. I moved my cast iron birds next to the new flowers. The torts grazed happily. I made crockpot chicken and dumplings, and went to see Jackass Two with a girlfriend. I was crying (with laughter) before I was five minutes into it...Then I came home and took the torts and Dill out again. With a nice bottle of Viognier. I love watching the birds go to bed for the night- the crows who are all out walking in the grass go back to the woods. A pair of doves that sound like they weigh ten pounds each- they are so clumsy! land in the oak and crash around and coo at each other till they fall asleep. Bluejays and squirrels look for acorns till it's almost dark. Sometimes the little wrens flit about and complain. Woodpeckers fly to the oak, out to the huge mimosa, out to the woods, back to the oak. When it's too dark to read, I take everyone back in the house. It got down to 40 something last night! Was 44F when I got up.

I get daily updates on Kelly's bird Roy. His first bandage change will be Monday. Then we will know what amount of foot was salvaged. He's doing fine, though.

Salsa, I had a toenail fall off a couple weeks ago. Actually, it was helped off. I think it got injured at Wickham Park in May. Then I dropped my bike on it last Saturday!! (You know I ride with sandals...) Watch your toe- purple and swollen might indicate a fracture.

    Knot- I'm sorry.

CWR- got the snake thing handled. I wish they wouldn't have murdered it, though.

Oh, yeah, Baton Rouge, how could I forget?? Every time I think about it, I get that Garth Brooks song stuck in my head...

Lise, AOL blows. I bet he's sent you a bunch of letters! Probably even PR has written!

    Fredw, that is very strange.

Oh, the "U" animal I thought of immediately was Umbrella Bird. Of course, BF who called from work at the sheriff's dept and demanded I produce a "U" animal with no explanation then thinks I made it up. I'm like, well Google it if you don't believe me. There is also the Uakari, a particularly unfortunate-looking New World monkey, and (sea) urchin.

    Umbrella Bird

Any of three species of bird of tropical South and Central America, family Cotingidae, order Passeriformes, about 45 cm/18 in long. The Amazonian species Cephalopterus ornatus, the ornate umbrella bird, has an inflatable wattle at the neck to amplify its humming call, and in display elevates a long crest (12 cm/4 in) lying above the bill so that it rises umbrella-like above the head. These features are less noticeable in the female, which is brownish, while the male is blue-black.

In the long-wattled umbrella bird C. penduliger, the wattle is covered with black feathers and may reach a length of 28 cm/11 in. The wattle of C. glabricollis is short, bare, and red.

    I'm resisting, I'm resisting!!
