    I set the following goals for 2006:
    * 5000 miles (indoor and outdoor)
    * 2000 club miles
    * captain 10 rides for the club
    * ride 5 centuries
    * average speed 15.0

    Thus far I've logged 5,107 miles, 2305 club miles, captained 10 rides during my summer vacation, completed 3 centuries and my average speed for the year is just a tad above 15.0. I hope to get another century in next weekend and it may be my last for the year given the onset of the cold temperatures. I have a feeling I'll be pulling the trainer out in a couple of weeks and logging a lot of mindless hours/miles from that point forward.

    I've had a great year thus far on my bikes and am looking forward to setting some new goals for 2007 - not sure what they will be but I know I'll have fun chasing them. If I don't make the 5 centuries this year there is always 2007 and heck 4 is pretty darn good given I rode my first century just last year.

    I met my goal of 2500 miles 2 weeks ago. I also did the century I said "maybe" I would do. I figure I have another 200-350 miles left before it's really too cold.
    My riding is winding down. Now that I've mentally released myself from trying to achieve the goal, I feel relaxed. I would like to try to ride fairly steadily through November, on the weekends and for the next 2 weeks 1-2x after school until the time changes. I'd like to try riding through the winter as much as I can, but I really don't think I will, except for the days when it's 40 or above and the streets are clear. However, i am noticing that sometime in late August i start getting "sick" of cycling. Usually I'm in a better frame of mind by September, since the weather is so nice then. But I seem to just run my body down and then I get mentally drained.
    My other goals are to get back to weight lifting (I started this week) and do more mountain biking before the winter sets in. This is my last year of teaching. I will up my goal to 3,000 miles next season, as I will be able to ride more in the fall.

    Goals

    On Bike Journal, my goal was originally 2000 miles by the end of the year, but then I upped it to 3000 because I figured if you don't make a goal higher than what you think you can do, you won't do as much as you can.

    So I'm definitely going to hit 2000 (probably in the next couple weeks) but I think 3000 was a bit optimistic, especially considering it's SNOWING in early October...

    I still did more than I thought I would by now, so anything else is gravy

    Now for the ski goals... Unlike Bron, I don't have a 90 km. race in my future, (the Euros are so much more hardcore about skiing than we are!) but I would like to add one more ski marathon to my calendar this year. Oh, and get my Birkie time under 5 hours.

    Now that it's in print, I have to do it, right?
