    Interestingly...
I've heard everything from the war in the middle east not being to 'bring armageddon' ...er... not directly, but to secure America's access to oil-producing areas in the world so when we hit "peak oil" and beyond, we still have control over said areas...
...the idea that we really invaded Vietnam because they're the only oil-producing country
...to the idea that conservative america doesn't care about the environment b/c when we destroy the world, Armageddon will happen, and the righteous will be saved anyway
...to the idea that HAARP pulled Katrina north into Louisiana, and because much of the damage was to poorer neighborhoods (who would've voted liberally) efforts were focused elsewhere
...some people *really think* the world will "end"(or polarity will shift) at the end of the Mayan calendar at 2012 (as evidenced by the fact that all pyramids follow a near perfect 'sine' wave around the earth, and sciences have reached states of great advancement... then have been wiped out... etc etc
...this is going on too long. I know more 'conspiracy theories' than I thought. Anyway... yeah. It's all out there. I feel like a nut for knowing this stuff. Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps.

Sorry he was a nut, Lise. Sounds like there are easily better fish in the sea to be caught.

You've got a very good-looking son, Jennifer! Hope he had a great BD. (And you had a good day, too!)

Thank you for the BD wishes for my son.

Lise- Congrats on the 1/2 marathon. I am sorry you are achey and congested. Feel better soon. It sounds as though Mr. Faraway can stay faraway. Hopefully coffee with Southern Gentleman will go really well.

Kitsune-I do like the Scot definition of glamour.

Annie - Flossie is named Flosshilde after one of the Rhinemaidens. I think Kitsune posted some links she found to them. Anyway, my Flosshilde is named after the Rhinemaiden in "Expecting Someone Taller" by Tom Holt. Which is a very funny book, by the way.

It was a stream-of-conciousness as I was falling asleep, it made marvellous sense at the time, and suits her beautifully.

I've gone on 4 rides so far (around 160 miles) and she has gotten admiring comments on every ride. She's beautiful. When I get her new tires on and have her all adjusted, I'll post a pic.

    Might make her my avatar.

Lise - ewww, you had to kiss him? Ick. yeah, let's focus on Southern Gentleman.

(umm, I just realized my "ewww" was undiplomatic. but ewwwwww! kisssing a man! ewwwww! yeah, I have a bias. but ewwwww! )

I hope Southern Gentleman is a gentleman, and doesn't have trouble sleeping or find conspiracy theories to be good first date topics. Asking you about your tri/running is an EXCELLENT choice of topic. A gentleman should talk about the lady, not about himself too much. And he should keep it light and entertaining.

You want me to give these dudes a little tutorial before they meet you?

I don't know you! Either of you! There are *very* kissable guys out there. Just ask, I'll tell you. I just get all creepy-shuddery at the thought of keeping them. ...then again, I'm sure there are some that don't need constant babysitting, either.
