    I scratched my bike!

Oh, why does DebW have to be off hiking when I have a bike-hysteria moment? I need her to talk me down...

I was distracted by my dog and leaned my bike (Flosshilde) improperly against the corner of my hallway wall. She fell over, of course! Got a bunch of scratches, but I think the issue is white wall paint embedded in the gold Flossie paint.

How do I gently get that white paint off without messing things up worse? It didn't come off when I scraped at it with my thumbnail, so I left it alone.

Knot! Breathe! In.... Out... slower- don't hyperventilate!

I'll see what I can do in the mean time.

I would first reccommend taking a pencil eraser and working at the white wall paint. If that doesn't work, you may want to progress to car buffing compound with a cloth. If none of the above work, try testor's model paint, applying a *very* small amount just in the scratches with a very fine brush or the tip of a toothpick, let it dry very thoroughly, then have at it with the buffing compound to level the surface.

It'll all be okay, Knot. ((hug))

Yes, just do all that and the bike will look perfect....then run it into the carport like I did and have it professionaly repainted (even new decals ).

    Flossie will be fine....inhale...exhale....

I'm glad your bike lived, Trek... I think I'd have a heart attack.

Knot- Flossie's prognosis is good, don't worry...

I fear what I'd do to a steel bike. Just the fact that I *could* tac/arc weld and/or solder just opens it up to all kinds of fascinating art projects that would give steel bike fans nightmares.

No no no welding, maybe with the old wheels I found that I'm turning into a trellis in the patio but nothing like that to the bike.

Not even stripping down the paint on one or both sides, and soldering on pretty raised designs? Weight weenie.

I had a great hike. Soggy but great. I'll post more over in TD.

Sorry about the scratches, Knotted. Is everything OK now? I would have suggested wiping the scratches with WD-40, but that may or may not help remove the white paint.
