    Real name: Katie
Where do you live? San Francisco, CA

Explanation of your handle: I was unoriginal and entered my real name

Explanation of your avatar: yet to be determined

Age (general or specific) 21 as of Aug 13

Occupation: student and bike slinger for a bike shop

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I've never calculated this

Another picture of yourself or your ride? See the attachment, woot.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I lied to some stranger about my life story when I was wasted. Absolute hilarity.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Taking my first long bike ride with my mom and a group of her ladies out into the North Bay. Man was it beautiful and boy was it the best ride I've ever taken, to date.

Most fun ever had on a bike? An alleycat I raced in here in the city and won the Queen of the Mountain stage!

This is my first post here, so I'll let this stand as my introduction. Hiya, everyone!
    Real name: Holly

Where do you live? Bloomington, IN

Explanation of your handle: My name is Holly, in Latin, that's "ilex". "Veloc" is a partial root for speed, so velocilex = "Speedy Holly"!

Explanation of your avatar: 'Tis me on the Hilly Hundred last year.

    Age (general or specific) 40

Occupation: Art History instructor and grad student, finishing my Ph.D. dissertation.

Favorite bike: My 2005 Kona Dew Deluxe workhorse. But my new Scott Contessa CR1 is working its way up there.

    What's in your stable? 2006 Scott Contessa CR1/ 2006 Lemond Etape/ 2005 Kona Dew Deluxe/ 1997 Roadmaster Little 500 SS

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 40.3 mph, last weekend on the road leading down to the causeway of Lake Monroe. I'm still picking the bugs out of my teeth!

Another picture of yourself or your ride? This is my Kona and I outside the 12th century church of St.-Pierre de la Tour in Aulnay, France this summer.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Go on and finish without me. I dont mind.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Riding my fully loaded bike alone over the rolling hills of southwestern France and seeing the bell tower of one of my favorite medieval churches come into view. My heart was just pounding and I couldn't stop thinking, "Guess where I went on my bike ride today?"

Most fun ever had on a bike? I spent seven weeks on a solo tour of southwestern France earlier this year while I was doing research for my dissertation. It was fun, but lonely. I have to say, though, I had a great ride here at home with a couple friends yesterday morning: it was one of those rides where everything was in tune and grooving-- including myself!

    Welcome to the board:

Stephanie: I'm so sorry somehow I missed your getting to know you post - don't know how coz I LOVE your avatar! There are days I really do ride like that just coz riding feels soo good!!

Katie: my first road bike on this my latest adventure in cycling was a 1987 Peugeot Avaroiz. He's really just a tad too tall for me......51 cm and the perfect fit for me is a 47 but I sure do love that bad boy. Most of the components are still original to the bike and he'll stay in my stable for years to come!

NJGirl: but of Course you should yearn for that $10,000 Cervalo! Every once in awhile I go to trekbikes.com and build my custom bike - just for grins and giggles. So far the cheapest I've been able to build was somewhere around $7500. lol Never hurts to dream eh?

    Better Late Than Never

I joined back in July but didn't know about this thread.

    Real name: Nicole

Where do you live? Olney, MD, a northern suburb of Washington, DC

Explanation of your handle: I live in Maryland and I'm "hill challenged"

Explanation of your avatar: It's just a cool bike image I found on the web

    Age (general or specific): 45

    Occupation: Scientist/Bioinformatics

Favorite bike: My Specialized Sequoia Elite

What's in your stable? Specialized Sequoia Elite and my (hopefully soon-to-be-sold Raleigh C40 hybrid)

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? at least 34 mph on a downhill

Most memorable moment on my bike: When I was 6 or 7 I borrowed a friend's bike so that I could learn how to ride a real two-wheeler. Just as I was getting the hang of it I lost control and ran into a curb, blowing out the tube and destroying the front tire. It was 4 or 5 more years before I actually learned to ride.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Every time I head out it's more fun than the last time
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

    Lurker's first post

I joined a couple of months ago and have had fun (at work!) finding other women who ride. I commute three days a week, the most recently memorable being Tuesday when it bucketed rain in the morning and I went through a puddle (ha! lake!) that stretched curb to curb and was deep enough to come up over my bottom bracket. Needless to say, my toes squished the rest of the ride in.

    Real name: Lisa

Where do you live? Kirkland, WA, east side of Seattle

Explanation of your handle: I'm the only Lisa B on here, I'd guess

Explanation of your avatar: Still working on that one

    Age (general or specific): 44

    Occupation: Web site manager

Favorite bike: My Trek 7600, bruised but still a peach

What's in your stable? The Trek and a Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem with a Soft Ride Beam - mmm, bouncy

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 45 mph on a downhill somewhere out in the sticks

Most memorable moment on my bike: You mean I have to choose one of my crashes? Impossible.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Going downhill, any day.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told : There’s not enough room here, but it starts with no honey really………

Most memorable moment on my bike: When I was showing off without a helmet. I tipped over and hit my head on the curb (ouch). I was so stunned I couldn’t move for about 5 minutes. Never have made that mistake again.
