Hey guys, I thought I would introduce myself before I started giving out my two cents (if it's worth even that much)! My name's Katie, I live in the California Bay Area and I love bikes of all sorts. I currently have only one bike, an old 70's Peugeot steel monster converted to a fixed-wheel and I absolutely love it and would never trade it in for anything... not to mention it's my mode of transportation to get about the city. I'm starting to build a road bike and get into the wide and varied world of road cycling. Woot! So, hello, my name is Katie and I'm addicted to bicycles.
PS A group of us are going to do the Velogirls ride next Saturday. Not sure if you'd want to do it on the fixie. Anyway, if you're interested, here's the thread:

Oooo...vintage steel...and French steel at that! Welcome, Katie, from another bike addict (and proud owner of a 70's Gitane, that I would also never never never part with).

Ok, I've started to give my 2 cents worth without a proper intro. Rude I am! My apologies!
My name is Audrey. I live in Mississauga Ontario, Canada. Was an avid commuter cyclist in Toronto when I lived there - moved to the burbs, had kids and decided last year it was about time I re-connected with some of the things I love, and take some time for me. I'm back. Am competing in duathlons (did 2 this year) with my new love, my Cannondale R1000. Love, love, love my bike! (I think it loves me too) Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome Katie... any bike is a good bike, and if you're addicted then I'm sure this forum will inspire you to add more pretty essentials to your stable
Enjoy being here - its a great forum!
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
Sigh.... that photo really took me back a few years. My first 10 spd was a Gitane, purchased in 1976. It is kind of a burgundy/purple color. I loved that bike (still have it actually) but it needs some serious work to be safely rideable again. I put a LOT of miles on that bike.

Hey Melissa! Thanks for the invite but sadly I work every Saturday and Sunday so I can never ride with the VeloGirls, much to my chagrin but hopefully this will change soon, I'll probably be on the fix for atleast a week if not three but I hear that patience is a virtue so we'll see how things turn out. Thanks to all the welcomers and well-wishers!

PS: Sherry, your Gitane is AWESOME!
Gee...thanks! Her name is Geri, and next year will be our 30th year together
Do you have any pix of your Peugeot fixie...? I know I'd sure love to see some..maybe others would too.
