Hi everyone, I did my 1st century today. The COVAC (Connecticut Valley Century) I am so excited. 102 miles, 6 hours 3 minutes. my average speed was 16.8. Did I say I was excited. yes I am a little achy in my shoulders and back but I am so happy.![]()

Great job!
That's a great time.
Was it a hilly course?
I grew up in the Naugatuck Valley of CT, and it's only *after* I started riding a bike, did I appreciate that I really was in a valley! No where to go but UP!
Congrats!

Hey congrats im4smiley. Thats a great time. My DH did it in 5 hours and 1 minute. He was pretty bummed about the last minute but he said there was quite a headwind right at the end. It was 3600 ft of climbing if you are interested.
Way to go girl.
Congratulations! You'll never forget your first century. And that time/speed is much better than most people achieve (I've done five centuries and have only been that fast once -- on the back of a tandem!) Way to go!

Congratulations! We just did our second century today and did the same distance and almost the same speed! (we aren't in CT, though!).
You did great!
And, when I read your post, it said you had 100 posts on the forum...what a coincidence! Your century post was about completing your first century!![]()
Thanks everyone, I will post a report under the Sept 9 rides. I really had fun today. I did this a little faster than planned but rode with some faster people here and there.
That is a coincidence about the 100 posts, i hadn't noticed.
and surlygirl congrats to DH that is a great time, and yes there was quite a head wind at the end and more climbing than I had been told, but I had ridden some parts of the route before so I knew there would be some climbing!
Congratulations and great time! My first century ended up being 102 miles, but it was closer to 7 hours. You're a speed demon. And I remember the same aches.

That is a great accomplishment to you! Savor it, and enjoy the afterglow. You had a great day weather wise and it sounds like your ride was a blast, the way it should be.
Are you hooked? Ready to consider another one?
