so why do you feel you need a protein powder supplement?

Most people eat TOO much protein. The rule of thumb is roughly - two servings of dairy foods, and two servings of "meaty" foods per day should give you what you need. even if you are strength training, you don't need all that extra protein. its just hard on the kidneys.

servings are 1 cup of milk, 1/2-3/4 cup of yogurt or cottage cheese (depending on the type), a deck of card sized chicken breast, fish fillet, or steak, 1 cup of beans, and about 100 grams of tofu (but again depends on fat content).
