We drove down to Perrysville, IN because there are hills there and did our annual 51 mile loop, except that I did 62 miles because two of us left our water bottles at the Kingman Oasis Ice Cream Shoppe, which added 6 miles, and then we missed a turn and added the other 5. The otehr water bottle leaver had already done 6 extra miles from a previous missed turn and had not eaten enough for the extra miles (especially at the faster, try-to-catch-up pace)... so we had to stop (his shoulders were bugging him, too; a few miles of the route were horrendously bumpy, beat-up-your-body-and-bike miles) and we took long enough they came out in the car to get us... but our "thumbs out for a ride" was interpreted as "thumbs up" so we had to do those last 3 miles anyway (2 of which were very much downhill, the third only a bit uphill...) if you want a ride, don't smile... and speak (Yea, I could have offered a back rub, but it mighta gotten back gto his GF )

Hi all, I did a group ride today, 3 different groups went out, different paces. There are several of us doing a century next weekend and we wanted to get a good ride in so we planned a 50 mile trip. I was in the intermediate group, we did 50 miles at an avg speed of 18mph.. ..whew...we were moving...I had plans of a slower pace but once we got going we kept a nice pace line going and everyone took turns at a pull. The wind picked up at about mile 35 and that was tough but I was able to hang on. Century next weekend WILL be much slower!!

I did a nice ride today with DH and a another woman friend, who suggested the ride. Had lousy maps and we kept trying to guess our way, which made the trip take longer than it normally would have taken. Quite a few hills, a few too many highway segments, and not really enough tranquil dirt roads, but some pretty ponds to pass, and lots of good excercise. My previous record for a trip was 23 miles. Today we figured was about 30 miles. It was not a big deal ride to them, but for me it was challenging! I never had to get off and walk up any hills today, -unlike previous rides smaller than this one. And I didn't lag behind either. I felt really proud at the end, ...and I feel bushed all over too- looking forward to hot shower and bed. I know my legs are going to be complaining tomorrow!

Thing is, I am still getting over a head cold (ear ache, balloon head, runny nose), PLUS today was the first day of my period and I had cramps and had to find a bathroom to change tampons mid-ride, etc. So I think I did pretty well, considering!!

We were good and ate granola bars and drank lots of water during the ride. I felt like I needed every bit to keep getting up those hills.
So- new record ride of 30 miles for today!

We had a 4-person TE ride starting in Concord, MA. Robyn lead us on a 40 mile loop. I think she has a pic she will post at some point. Beautiful weather, nice company. My total milage was 65 (10 miles there, 10 miles back, and 4 or 5 extra because I got there too early and had to kill time).

I rode 75 miles today. 20 by myself and then 55 with my husband. The weather was great. No wind and temps in the 70's.

Finally got a decent ride in today! Had a short, slow 10 mile ride on Saturday after just over two weeks off the bike.

Beautiful weather today. Got a nice 31 mile ride in on the Santa Ana River Trail. Yeah! It felt so good.

Your biggest challenge isn't someone else.
It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs and the voice inside that yells "CAN'T".
But you don't listen. You just push harder.
And then you hear the voice whisper "CAN".
And you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are.

Well, it turns out that ride was not 30 miles as I had thought, but it was FORTY miles!! We mapped it out with the pedometer website. No WONDER I was beat at the end! That's a jump for me, going from previous record of 23 hilly miles to 40 hilly miles! Whew! But now I have a lot more confidence.

Congratulations Lisa! That is a big jump.

I rode 40 miles with 3 East Coast TE girls. It was a fun ride with a few more hills than I anticipated. It was great to meet Robyn, Deb and Tasha. Hope we can get together again soon.

I did the Perrysville ride too and it came out to 52 miles for us (I was in the same group as SueJ but didn't need to go back for water bottles). It was the longest ride I have done and the hills were a challenge for me on my hybrid, although Sue rode my bike for a while and did much better with it than I did. She's really strong.

The Moonglo burgers at the end were really fantastic!

I rode 41 miles by my lonesome, as usual. A wonderful day to put more miles in than my usual. There wasn't much wind or traffic!!!! Most the miles were on a new route, as the road had been closed to work on a interstate bridge. Of course there was no one working due to the holiday so I rode right through. I scared 5 buffalo and 2 calves that were way off in the field. Could they run! The coolest part about seeing them is that they ran in single file order. There was lots of longhorn cattle grazing and sleeping, but they didn't bat an eye. The buffalo ran single file again on my way back. Definitely a wild creature! My ave. speed was 13.85. My personal best.
