Ten ways that randonneuring gives you practice for old age:

    1) Gets you used to waking up at all sorts of strange hours.
    2) Creates an overwhelming need to take a nap.
    3) Gets you used to treatments for pressure sores, such as Lantiseptic
    or Bag Balm.
    4) Gets you used to a diet that largely consists of liquids,
    particularly Ensure.
    5) Everything you eat is institutional food that tastes like crap.
    6) Gets you used to being confused.
    7) Makes it hard to balance.
    8) Makes it hard to get in or out of the car or climb stairs.
    9) You're used to wearing shorts that have a built-in diaper.
    10) You find yourself engaging in long rambling stories with no point or
    ending.

Except for #3,4,8, and 9, it sounds an awful lot like being a midwife!

I loved that when I got it on the rando list. Especially #6.
