I was told by the organizer that the 25 mile is pretty flat. The 50 mile and metric are much hillier (the 50 is a different route than the 50 in March). I'm doing the 25 with some friends from the office.

    Gotta check out those yurts!

I talked it over with my husband and we thought it would be a fun trip, so we'll be there. We'll probably do the metric century.

Our current plan is to stay Friday and Saturday nights and head home on Sunday. We reserved the small cabin at Cachuma Lake Park (my sweetie snores up a storm and I needs my beauty sleep, so it's nice to get a 2-room cabin). Very nice looking setup there.

I have a work conflict so we won't be going, after all.

We are going to take a long weekend Oct 19-22 down in San Luis Obispo and Solvang, and taking the bikes of course. Any suggestions for rides in that area ?

I'm still planning on doing the 25 (which is going to be pretty interesting since I haven't had any chance to ride lately).

Haven't dealt with hotel yet, which means we'll probably be somewhere in Lompoc

    Hi laughlaugh

Please tell me what a 'yurt' is?

I'm really lost on that one.

    Cheers

Thumbs up google is your friend

    Hi Sally -

Go to www.google.com and type yurts in the search box

It'll bring up all sorts of links about yurts, and some pictures too.

But basically, yurts are tent-like structures that on account of their design can be quite spacious. LeeBob and I like to dream about our vacation/retirement home, which would have a yurt in the backyard as a separate guest room.
