    Best Shorts

I will be doing the MS-150 from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach. I have a worn out pair of cycling shorts that I just don't feel are up to the long ride. Can you advise me on the best shorts out for long rides? Thanks!!!!

Try reading all the previous posts about various shorts people like and don't like, look under the "APPAREL" category in "Gear & Accessories" section.

Check out the Apparel forum under Gear and Accessories.

Having said that, let me cast my vote for Shebeest SSS shorts--love the fabric, the chamois, the grippers--everything about them.

IMO, Shebeest SSS shorts are the best.

Sugoi RX Flex has really cool, breathable fabric, is relatively long, very nice styling, and a nice chamois with different levels of padding.

I've tried a few different shorts and wanted to suggest one and not suggest a second one. My favorite are the Pearl Izumi Tour (I prefer sugar short). I ride in them for short and/or long rides and they work great.

The pair I would strongly suggest against are the Performance Bike Gel. I don't think it was the performance bike brand (haven't tried any of their other shorts), I think it was the gel part. I NEVER sweat down there and the gel made me sweat like a man and also actually rubbed off some of my skin, and well, you know what happens when you sweat and rub~~not fun. Especially when you are 20 miles out and have to ride back home. I threw those right in the garbage.

The reason I tried the gel is becuase my DH loved them. After he saw that I hated them, he tried the Pearl Izumi Tour shorts that I adored and he never looked back. He threw away all his gels and switched. Haha! the wife was finally right about something related to cylcing, woohoo!!!

The moral of the story, I like the Pearl Izumi Tour sugar shorts, but even more, you are going to have to try different ones until you find the one that fits you the best.

    Good luck short shopping!!!

    My favorite shorts:

    Performance Ultra
    Terry T-shorts

This keeping in mind that I have never tried any of the more popular shorts on this board: Pearl Izumi, Shebeest, Sugoi, etc. But the above work well for me, and I got all mine on sale.
