I ued to work in one of those Perfume deps in a department store for a short time. Although I do like good perfume I was leaving that place dizzy by the end of the day. I would never do this work again.

Here are the perfumes I like:

I like it when my hair and clothes smell like woodsmoke after I've been sitting by a campfire. I avoid washing my hair as long as possible after that.

I like when my arms and hands smell like green tomato plants after I've been staking up the plants.

I like the warm nice smell of my husband's beard.

I like the sunny dusty smell of my kitties when they sit on the windowsills.

I like the way my backpack smells after I've biked into town and bought 2 pounds of freshly ground coffee.

I like when I'm wearing a real wool sweater in the rain and it smells like lanolin.

I liked that after my mother died (last week), I spent time arranging and tying silvery locks of her hair with ribbons to give to her children and loved ones in little packets with her picture. I know that the delicate familiar smell of her hair will bring tears of love and rememberance to each person that receives one.

I like the smell of farms with cows and horses and sheep and hay when I bike past them.

I'm definitely NOT a girly girl, but I do like perfume. Love's Baby Soft started me on that path, back in the day! ;-) That and Avon's Sweet Honesty. That was many moons ago, though.

Right now, I like Ralph Lauren's Hot. I also like Origins chocolate line, but it's not perfume--the body butter is a real treat. I think it's called Cocoa Therapy. The texture, the smell, etc. Great at moisturizing your skin, too.

I'm another one sensitive to the smell of perfumes. It gives me headaches and at times affects my mood in the worst way. I avoid department stores that have the gals spraying the testers or I make sure I use an alternate entrance.

Lisa, I love the way you expressed the natural smells you enjoy.

    Lisa,
Too true. Those are good scents. I also really like the salt-mineral scent the shower takes on after I've been on a long, hot ride, or the weedy, rich scents of healthy lakes on summer days, or the rich smell of the grass in fields after hot days after the sun goes down, and the cool night air opens the fibers as the wind blows through...

...but those aren't necessarily scents I'd wear when I'm, say, at the club, dancing close to my sweety or for a job interview.

I tend to shy away from actual perfumes and instead favor essential oils, like a dab of lavender, jasmine, patchoulli, or dragonsblood. For kicks, I bought a vial of pheremone to add to scents, but the 'results' can be so varied, I'm not even sure it works.
Thankfully, it was pretty cheap. The only thing I've noticed more is that people will comment more often on the scent of the oil itself, whatever kind I'm wearing.

I'm a big fan of Ralph Lauren's RALPH (not RALPH COOL which is just FOUL!) mainly because it's sweet and mild but it also lasts all day even in summer when I'm sweating like a pig. It's really fresh smell. I love it when I can smell it on my clothes.

I really can't stand Estae Lauder perfumes or Elizabeth Arden... they're overpowering.

The real test of perfume for me is if someone can smell it when you're standing or sitting right next to them (or CLOSER)... but not when you're like a metre away. If that works then I'm happy with it. So for someone to be able to smell perfume on a bikeride just shouldn't happen.

    My other fave scents?

Almond oil and rosemary hip oil. Combined in this Ocean BLue STUFF moisteriser it smells just like Blue Icecream!
