High school and Pro Sports

many pro (US at least...other countries???) female cyclists have education and careers outside of cycling, in fact many have advanced degrees. When will the men catch up with us ???
This is a bit off-topic, but when I was in the navy, I noticed the same thing was generally true of enlisted men and women. Most of the men I knew had joined, right after high school, because they couldn't/wouldn't do anything else, whereas the women had primarily joined for some excitement and travel, often after already completing a year or two of college.

Does this suggest a trend among young Americans? I don't know--I just thought the parallel was interesting.
