They can be picky... I've seen them play with snails, but not sure if they care to put that much work into it. Slugs are a 'no' but if you need to get rid of either of those, I'd actually suggest a duck.

multi-purpose pets are great. (like the duck who ate slugs and snails, and the cats who would hunt around the house if they weren't so busy getting cuddled) Depending on your space, you could always keep chickens for garden de-lousing and fertilizer, eggs and... um... chicken. =) Goats are pretty awesome for milk, lawn-mowing and fertilizer, too. =D

we dont really have facilities for ducks and duck poop. It doesn't seem fair to have a duck without water for it to play in and that's something I reallydon't want to clean up. We actually live in the Seattle city limits, so I don't think goats would work either; but I love goats.

I don't think we have lice in our garden!!! ick ick ick!

Tell your rats those snails are escargot! I bet they will eat them then!
So, how do you keep your rats from running away; burrowing down a mole hole, what?

considering what Whole Foods charges for goat milk ($6.99 per half gallon) it is sounding very tempting to just invest in one.

So I hopefully got my stupid insurance hashed out. I have to do the med mail order. I sent in the script, so we'll see. I'm skeptically optimistic.

Is anything cheap at whole foods? Whenever I go there I walk out with 1 bag and $50 poorer

That's why it's called Whole Paycheck......

I stopped shopping there after ending up with rotten fruit 3 different times.

Heh, unfortunately those cities are too far for me to get to easily

I thought the whole premise of mail order was to get 3 month supplies so you can get a discount. Because this stuff is $1500 a box, they can only do 1 month's supply at a time. So there's no volume discount. I think they're just trying to increase the PITA factor to try to discourage its use personally.

Beta, have you called and asked for the speciality pharma department? Those of us with chronic diseases that need high dollar meds are frequently put into a special pharma program where you even get a single person point of contact. I get 3 mos of my MS injection via mail order for the same copay as the others but get handled through a different unit.

Is the total cost to you less even if you get only one mos at a time thrugh mail order? Usually, it is.

Another idea is to call the drug manufacturer itself. They frequently will have a website and a program specific to the disease and can help you find your way through the insurance programs.

    Just some ideas.
