My ride report is late since I had to work today and I'm feeling pretty beat-up, but I also did the Cool Breeze yesterday. I'm really happy I did it, but it was a tough ride for me. I'm very slow on the hills and not much faster on the flats, but it was a fun ride. I rode with Tracy, Pam and Wayne and we had a great time!
My knee started complaining at around mile 40, but some ibuprofen helped. After the lunch stop at mile 55, I put my computer on the time display so I couldn't see the miles tick off. I didn't want to see how many miles I had yet to go! Ya know, the whole mind game thing...
After the third rest stop, I kept thinking about the popsicles that awaited us at the last rest stop. And that was the best popsicle I've had in a long time!
Once we finished the last freeway section, I started hammering since at that point the only thing I wanted to do was get off the bike. I was so ready to be finished riding. I made some increases on my average speed over that last stretch, but it was still a lot slower than everyone else has reported!
During the ride, I decided I would buy the jersey if they had any left when I finished. I saw riders all day wearing the jersey and I really wanted one and hope they hadn't sold out of them. So I got to the finish and I got the last jersey in my size!
