    Mac iBook

Anybody else using a iBook? Is yours turning greenish-yellow from your hands?

Mine is going green on the keys, touchpad, clicker, and the edge of the case where I rest my hand.

I think it may be a sign I spend too much time on the computer.

We have 3 Mac iBooks in our home and none are turning colour. How long have you had yours?

I've had it for 7 months.

I've been very careful to keep the iBook clean, keep my hands clean. The green stains don't wipe off.

I think I have goofy chemistry, cuz I make perfumes change drastically when they hit my skin.

That is very odd. If it bothers you (it would drive me nuts) take it to a MAC store and show them what it is doing. It should still be under warranty.

Is this the white Ice book? G3? They do tend to turn. What I got was an iSkin (google it... I think the url is www.iskinz.com but I might be wrong) but one temporary way to get rid of the hand-oil coloration is to use isopropyl alcohol, 99% and rub well with a cotton ball.
I got mad at my icebook and just pulled the pyrex (pyrex?) clear top and bottom off, stripped the white paint off with alcohol and painted it stained-glass blue to hide the discoloration...

    Nope, the G4.

I'll try the alcohol. Then the skin. www.macskinz.com

I got Applecare, so I can always go back. I assume a new one would do the same thing.

Try the alcohol, then take it to the mac shop and see what they can do... if they give you a new faceplate (is that what it's called? the palm rest? and offending keyboard) get the clear iskin to take care of it and protect your screen, because if you're seeing that sort of damage due to skin oils on the keys, you might end up doing damage to the screen as well...

We have the same computer. I wish I could say I was king to mine, yet there is no discolouration. If the alcohol does not work, take it in, they should definitely replace it.

I've had my iBook G4 for a year now an the only discoloration is a few dark spots where I rest my dirty palms while I type, but that wipes right off.

Try those Mr. Clean magic scrub pad things. I had a stain on my mac ibook and it wouldn't come off with normal cleaner. I used one of those Mr. Clean things and it came right off.
