welcome to the board Leonne! I think we all do that "lie to ourselves" thing lol! Where in CO if I might ask??
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Okay here is my story.

Time for me to do this one too..

    Real name: Anita

Where do you live? American Falls, Idaho

Explanation of your handle: I love Red Wine, Alot!

Explanation of your avatar: I'm still working on that

    Age (general or specific): 43

Occupation: RN Clinical Leader for Pediatric's and PICU

    Favorite bike: Trek 5200

What's in your stable? Trek 5200

Fastest speed on a road bike? 43mph going down hill of course

Another picture of yourself or your ride: Sorry ,I need to figure out how to adjust the pictures to a smaller size

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Hummmmm

Most memorable moment on my bike: Before I had my own bike, I borrowed an old bike and rode 40 miles on my 40th birthday with great friends in Sun valley, Idaho.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Once I had my own bike and learned to ride to the top of Buckskin Hill (very challenging hill for all local riders and newbees)without stopping

Worst time ever on a bike? Humm, I guess an 80 mile ride I went on with a friend when I knew I didn't feel prepared and wasn't. The wind was blowing 30 mph, I didn't eat enough and drink enough and I was was praying I didn't have to call DH for ride home! My friend probably was wishing I would have called for a ride!! Even the worst day on a bike is better than any day working!!

Thanks Team for all your great stories and making me smile. I enjoy this website so much!

    Real name: Madeline

Where do you live? South Florida
Explanation of your handle: Well, it's Seabiscuit. If you didn't see the movie, I don't want to spoil it for you. If you saw it, you know . . . (remember the scene where Toby McGuire tells the replacement jockey how to best handle Seabiscuit to win the race? Well, I can't help myself either).

Explanation of your avatar: Well, assuming I actually got it downloaded properly . . . it's Seabiscuit

Age (general or specific): just turned the big 4-0-

    Occupation: Attorney

Favorite bike: Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL
What's in your stable? Specialized Allez Sport, Felt F65, KHL Mountain Bike which I use to run errands every once in a blue moon.
Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Downhill: 35 down Sugar Loaf "mountain" in Clermont, FL - Spring 2006. Self-propelled: 27.5, on a 3 mile sprint with my cycling club - second time with the fast group - total miles 40 nonstop at average 23. Shortly after Clermont this Spring.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Sorry, I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to post a photo here, but here, this resembles me as much as anything I have in my laptop anyway.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: It's not you, it's me.

Most memorable moment on my bike: About 8 miles into my first MS150 we passed a guy in a wheelchair sitting on his front porch holding a sign that read "Thank you". Whenever I think I can't pedal another stroke I remember him and I hammer it as hard as I can. I will never forget.

Most fun ever had on a bike? My BF and I rode all around Savannah, Georgia on touring bikes. He took me there to celebrate my big 4-0-. I had a large rimmed hat on, halter top, pedal pushers and my prettiest sandals. Never felt more feminine on a bike.

Worst time ever had on a bike? Can't recall I've ever had a bad time on two wheels . . .

Welcome one and all to the board!!

Shiraz: I tried to find a picture of a bottle of Shiraz but there were wayyyyy to many varieties. Tell us which one is your fav - and I'm betting someone here will find a pix and get it translated into an avatar for ya!

Seabiscuit: been there done that bought the book - which I thought was even Better than the movie! oh...and bought the soundtrack too! what a neat ID to pick for yourself tho - since I usually compare riding a bike (or motorcycle) to riding a horse - ok...all your horse ladies don't get upset. but like a horse, the bike will react to what your body is telling it, so ride relaxed and take it easy on the "mouth" and the bike will always be there for ya!

tygab: I'm got an 11-yr old cat that is all mouth. My dad even renamed her Szi which is "mouth" in Hungarian coz she never stops talking. I rescued her when she was 10 and have never regretted it.

    time to de-lurk

I've been lurking here for a bit, and something happened this morning that made me think it's high time to introduce myself. I was in the locker room in the gym and a woman was saying she heard on the radio that Floyd Landis had shot himself. Now I know what really happened, but it was then that I realized that I was gonna need somewhere to talk about it if it were true, and I was thinking to myself that I really should have de-lurked here by now... so here I am.

    Real name: Katherine
Where do you live? Roanoke, VA

Explanation of your handle: it's what my almost 3 y.o. DD asks me whenever I come in from running or biking

Explanation of your avatar: none yet...

Age (general or specific) turned 30 on May 28... my bike was my b'day present

    Occupation: Statistician/Research Consultant

Favorite bike: happy with what I have for now

What's in your stable? Specialized Allez 24

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 33 (according to my Garmin 201, I don't have a bike computer yet), on a hilly loop that I normally run but rode for the first time this past Sunday

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Here's one of me (I'm on the left) and here's my baby (well, the 2-wheeled one, anyway!).

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Maybe not the biggest, but when I was in kindergarten I told a kid that his General Lee matchbox car was mine (we had the same one) so that I could get rid of mine with it's peeling 01 sticker.

Most memorable moment on my bike: none really, yet... maybe riding to work one morning and just feeling like screaming joyfully at the top of my lungs... it sounds cliche but riding makes me feel so alive!

Most fun ever had on a bike? the longer the ride, the more fun, so I'd say this past Sunday when I did my longest yet (about 28 miles)

I'm a total newbie to cycling, but I have been a runner off and on, most recently I have been running consistently for a little over a year. I ran a half-marathon in April. I am having so much fun on the bike and learning a lot - this forum has been a wonderful source of information. I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Yeah, I also get "Are you sweaty?" and "You NEED to take a shower."

But... she also runs laps around the playroom, pretends to wipe sweat with a cloth, and rides her "bike" from one side of the house to the other, so I'll take it.

    Thanks for the welcome!

welcome to the board Stinky! I'm gonna get a kick outt that name every time I see it! and yes - in my case I live alone and this board has been a Godsend on more than one occasion especially when things happen like my family saying "why do you have 5 bikes?...you can only ride 1 at a time".........*shakes head sadly* they Just don't understand! lol

welcome to the board cosc: congrats on the new bike - sounds like beaut! I hate head/cross winds too and my city seems to have them every day due to the mountains! My friend call that "strenth" training and some days I have to keep chanting that to myself to get through it! :-D
