I did one. Exactly one. It was back in 2000 and in Florida no less.

As far as centuries go, it was admittedly an easier variety. Total elevation gain was what, 12 feet, maybe? I forgot how tall that bridge was we had to go over

Nowadays that I'm back riding, I seem less concerned with miles and mileage goals. These days I'm all about doing big mountain climbs. I'd really like to do the mt-evans hill climb next year.

lol at the 12 feet elevation gain century! i've heard that florida is as flat as a pancake! (i get more than 12 feet riding around my block! yikes!)

out here we have both... climbing and centuries combined! a couple of biggies are "breathless agony" (112 miles and 12000 feet) and "ride around the bear" (100 miles and 8000+ feet).... and of course there's always "king of the mountains": 3 rides.... 323 miles... 30,800 feet of climbing!

however... ANY century is a BIG accomplishment!!!!!! and is something to be VERY proud of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! Glad you enjoyed that caligurl

I did that century on my MTB which was perfect, as it gave me a reason to rationalize my agonizingly slow average speed!

Maybe I'll have to go to Cali to do one of those high elevation centuries, or the Tour de Gila which we have here.

Oh and be careful riding around your block....12 feet is a lot you know :P
