MimiTabby made me do it! (The thread that it is)
I was with some friends on a bike path(The Santa Ana Trail in Orange County). I was riding with Tom and Sue, who are very string tandem team. I was keeping up at about 22 mph. We had also attracted some wheel suckers. Shortly after passing anahiem stadium, Tom and Sue picked it up to about 25-27. I was right on thier wheel, but did get gapped. A couple of other club member had filled in the gap, but the "suckers" stayed with moi. I had closed it when we hit a construction zone.
I think what happed was Bennet hit his brakes, and I touched wheels with him and went down. Had some of the "suckers" fall on top of me, and then get up and ride off. I retained coniscousiness thorought. I realized that I was not going be able to ride. One of Tom and Sue's friend, who is an Officer with the Orange County Wheelmen, showed up and helped me get off the trail. Bennett is an opthamlogist, and he vounteered to go back and get his car. Tom and Sue thought I was just scraped up and wanted if was going to having Fish taco with them afterwards. When we got back, I asked Bennett where the nearest ER was. He suggest that I drive back to The Inland Empire if I could, Wound at Mt San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland.
You know it's bad news when the first thing the ER Doc asks is if your're right or left handed. Got a sling/Immobilzer for the left, and script for Vicodin.
Sunday, went to church, and the JCPenny Outlet at Ontario Mills. I can't raise my arm above my head right now, and I have a lot of pullover tops.
Monday, went to work(I'm a permatemp, so If don't work, I don't get paid) and the came back out to meet with the Othropedic surgeon. He said it's a simple fracture (Proximal Humerus, or a crack where the arm meets the collarbone) Have to wear the immoblizer for two weeks, at least, and I should all ok after 6. I 'm getting better as I get more range back, but I've debating hiring a CNA to help me dress. I think it's going to be a while before I'll be comfortable with Paceling or the SART...
Will let you all know more when I know more
PS. I forgot, I was wearing some new shorts from TE. They came through unscathed(I think, I need to do laundry tonight)

Really sorry to hear about this

I got hit by a car just over two weeks ago, and am now just getting back the range of motion in my arm.

Down with wheel suckers! Down with construction zones!

    Yes to a speedy recovery

Glad you aren't hurt worse and hope you'll be riding again soon

OUCH Sorry to hear you had an accident and broke your arm. I hope you heal quickly and completely and get back on the bike ASAP. Did they say if you could ride a trainer while you recover?

Oooohhh, poor thing! Glad you weren't more seriously hurt. I know my group pacelines down the River Trail at times and I always worry about crossing wheels and going down. I would get run over by a ton of other riders!

    Take care and heal fast.

I wondered what had happened when I saw your post in the thread you started about helmets, particularly when you said you would be off your bike for a while.

Healing wishes are heading your way from me too.

so sorry to hear about your accident! Sending healing thoughts your way!

so......you didn't make it unscathed, the bike shorts did, how about the bike?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
