    float is side to side.. and the speedplays (at least the x/3's) have a ton! it's great!

    i think it would be a wonderful idea to put them on your stationary bike! first for learning to clip in and out.. and also so learn/practice pedaling correctly in circles vice just down!

    Speedplays

    From what I understand from my main Bike Shope guy Kevin: float on speedplay clips is both up and down and side to side because they are a circle, the float is all over. I have Spd X/3 and love them. I started biking because running was killing my knee. The looks locked my foot in and still gave my knee fits. Kevin recommended speedplays and I do not have any pain in my knee now. The slight, very slight float helps my knee. And they are so easy to clip in and out.

    Love them! I would recommend them to anyone!
