    August 13 rides

It's 9:18 EST on a Sunday and there's no ride report thread for today yet???

I did 62 miles. 2 hours of riding to visit friends, 4 hours visiting, and 2 hours riding home. I'm really tired. Why does my 3 year old nephew think that his 50 year old aunt who's just ridden 31 miles and has 31 miles to go wants to jump up and down to music? Luckily, my 1 week old nephew was content to just be held.

Ok I haven't posted a ride in awhile. Today I did a ride with 3 other people we rode from the bike shop in Greenfield MA up through Vermont and back again. We did a wicked hill that I thought I was gonna die on. It went up and crested and then went up and crested and then went up again! I think that is how it is in Vermont up up and more up! Although I was in my easiest gear and breathing so hard, I did it! We did 41-1/2 miles, avg speed was 15.3. Hit a down hill and went about 40 mph! It was a beautiful day for a ride, not too hot (about 60 when we left) and so sunny. We saw some ducks and geese on a pond, and some wild turkeys running across the road. Great day

oh I almost forgot, hubby wanted me to check the mileage on part of a route he had walked this morning, so tonight about 6 pm i hop on my bike and after about 1-1/2 miles I have a flat. Back tire. I changed it all by myself! I did go through two CO2 tubes but I DID IT. His route was a 4 mile trek! I ride 41 miles this morning no problems, ride 4 miles and get a flat. crazy

Killed two birds with one stone.
I was getting grumpy, so DPITA told me to go for a ride. I borrowed a camera and biked into town (6 mi) and took pictures of the scene of my car accident so the idiots at the insurance company know what I'm saying. Biked home, feeling pretty good. Got to ride on my new tires for the first time. First time on smoothies. OOOOooh, it was like buttah, dahling! I floated! I flew!
6 mi back... and some dawdling and poking around country roads brought me to around 15 miles total before I had to get to work.
Also got pics of Miss 'Cakes so I'll have those cleaned up in PSHP tomorrow and up here (prolly in Thread Drift)

Now Kit, I see nothing about killing birds in "go for a ride."

What kind of tires did you get? I put smooth tires on my bike a few weeks ago, and yeah, the difference is pretty amazing, isn't it!

I got the Panaracer High Road V just because they were cheap at $15 and looked better suited to wet weather than the other ones available.

Nice choice! Pretty tread, and you're right -- price is great, and they do look like a good wet climate tire! I don't much think about wet weather here -- it's so infrequent, I forget it even exists sometimes!

DH laughed when I said I wanted slicks, thought "my ladies" were giving me a load of something -- he's not laughing now!
