    Thumbs up

    Hi Resi,

I live in a very sunny climate so I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm always looking for clothing that will protect me from the sun.

Terry makes the Peggy Sue Summerweight Jersey. It seems to be perfect in every way except for the fabric, which is pretty but not really my style. I have the De Soto arm coolers you mentioned and they've worked well for me. They look very nice with the Shebeest Ocean Wind Bellissima Jersey which is made of UPF fabric.

I also wear knickers, because my knees and the tops of my thighs get sunburned, and I've seen quite a few older women with wrinkly knees due to sun damage. Unfortunately, I haven't found any companies that put their best chamois in their knickers, so for long rides, I will wear shorts with a thicker, more comfortable chamois. The best knickers I've found so far are the Shebeest Pedal Pushers. Louis Garneau makes some that look good, but they're not here on the site -- Nanci sent me the link ages ago and I forgot where they were sold.

Good luck, and please let me know if you find anything elsewhere. This is a year-round issue for me.

    Cari

I also come from a warmer part of the world.

I recently found the Jaggad Solarace jersey at my LBS and managed to score it for my Mothers' Day present.

It is winter here so I haven't really put it through its paces in the heat yet, but it seems good so far. The colors look really dull on the website, but look better in real life.

PS the sizes run small ( I think, or am I just getter bigger???)

    Cari,
Can I ask you whether you find the Shebeest Pedal pushers get too hot in the warm weather?
I know exactly what you mean by your legs getting too much sun.

They feel pretty good, not too hot. They're made of DriStyle fabric, same as the Elite Distance 2 Shorts and the Shindigger Capris. It's matte, not quite as thin and shiny as lycra. But it's also not fleeced or anything like that, which you'll find in many other knickers. Shebeest also uses that fabric in the Retro 2006 Jersey, the Wahini Jersey, and the K2 Jersey. I prefer jerseys with a thinner, lighter, less clingy fabric, but on shorts and knickers, DriStyle is ok.

If you prefer a fabric that more closely resembles lycra, I might suggest some Castelli knickers that TE sold last Fall/Winter. Maybe they'll bring them back this year? I personally don't like those as much because the pad is not as cushy as I'd like. And oddly enough, the one time I wore those thinner Castelli capris out during the day, I felt much hotter than I ever did in the Pedal Pushers.

    Hope this helps,

    Cari

    Sue,
I also really like Shebeest's BoardRider Capri. I was wearing them when it was 100 degress F plus humidity. The fabric is wonderful.

    Thanks Cari and BMof3,

That information is really helpful. I had never considered longer shorts before.
I love my Elite 2 shorts. I can feel more shopping coming on......
