Unhappy Training for a Tri and can't afford a road bike

    Hi Gals!

I'm new to cycling and am training for my frist spint triathlon coming up in Oct. I have a mtn bike that I will be using for training and more than likely for the triathlon because I can't see myself affording a road bike any time soon. Any pointers you can give on using the mtn bike for a road bike besides getting slicks and tightening the shocks? Thanks!!!

You can install aerobars on a mtb, and you'll be able to use them on a future road bike.

    The slicks are a must.

Clipless pedals as well if you don't already have them.

Have fun! Some tri's actually have a mtb class.

I have a friend who started doing tris on her mountain bike with slicks. She said there was kind of a camaraderie between the mountain bike tri-ers. And she took extra pleasure when passing roadies!
