    Thank you both for your advice. It's not the distance I'm worried about, but doing that distance on a hybrid. I mean, the bike is just so heavy! I think I'm going to get my hybrid tuned up (it's been in the basement since last fall), maybe even get a new seat for it and try to switch the pedals from platform to my clipless (that will be an adventure).

    I guess I'll go for a few rides on the hybrid before the NYC ride so it's not a shock to my system going back to an upright position.
    It's only worth it if you're having fun

    Well, I am sure it wouldn't kill you to use your road bike, but I would imagine that the risk of getting a flat is higher. If that is not something that would stop you then go for it. My first bike - was a road bike that was close to 40 lbs with pedals and saddle, and it makes such a differenct to go to a lighter bike, and you feel stronger. I am not sure how it would work going to heavier bike, maybe not so well. But if you do decide to take out your hybrid definately take it for tune up and ride it few times
