Do you ever ask yourself "Am I ready for this"? "Did I do enough to get ready"? I am about to go on my first tour and I am a little nervous. Keep asking myself all these ? I need to do some deep breathing.I am hoping I have fun. I just don't know? I love to bike! I really do!

Oh, Brandi, enjoy! I sure understand how you're feeling -- dare I mention that besides the training part, I'd be wondering if I packed everything?

I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip! I've got DH, who claims that the only reason to bike is to get in shape for ski season, thinking that a biking vacation/tour someday would be mighty nice. Probably not for a couple of years yet, though, since it needs plenty of advance planning!

(and I bet your upcoming tour is what made ME think that a bike tour would be a great vacation, so thank you!!!!)

Ahhh thanks! And yes it does take a lot of preperation. I saved my list of the stuff i packed. When I get back, if my list worked i will post it with I am sure a few corrections on what i should and shouldn't have brought. I even have toe warmerfor inside my shoes. Only one set so i hope it's not cold. I figure you can make most anything with duck! tape!

Brandi - of course I oftentimes ask myself those very same questions....and a few others like....can we really afford this? *small voice in head answers: YEAH yeah!*.

Seriously though, it is perfectly natural. I am almost certain after the first day on the tour, when you are done riding, you'll be asking yourself a different question:

    Why didn't I do this sooner?~!

You'll be fine, believe in yourself and know that the jitters and questions are perfectly normal.

Yep, Brandi - often - and I'm doing local club races... I have to move up a grade in the next series and thats a huge "am I ready for this" question.

Just enjoy, live the moments... you'll be great and we look forward to hearing some details.

    I'm with you

    Hey Brandi

I am doing my first week long tour starting on Saturday. I did a 3 day trial run in June so feel a little better, but 8 days of riding - I don't know

I tweaked my list from the short tour and bought a pair of crocs so only 1 pair of daily wear shoes for this Imelda Marcos (I am bringing 2 pairs of cycling shoes however

Where are you going and for how long?

I am doing Candisc (cycling around North Dakota in Sakawea country)

A couple of other TE gals are going to be on it too so should be FUN ! !

Let us know how your tour goes and I'll do the same

    Hey Brandi,
I've done a few mtb. self supported tours and am nervous ever time (and admitedly, the first day is sometimes difficult) but then it's pure bliss! You and the bike for days on end. Simplicity and beauty that will have you grinning from ear to ear!

ok I am sitting here in pueblo Colorado, bikes should be here by friday. Nervous about that. Never sent our bikes any place ever. Hope they make it here! We sent them ground fed ex (husband wanted to go cheapest route, since we are not in a hurry to get them) My friend sent them and said they would only let her insure them for $100. so she didn't cause it wasn't worth it since they are worth more. Is that wierd? Why would they not let her insure them? I didn't tell my husband he would be upset knowing they aren't. Besides they had already sent them there was nothing I could do. One more thing to stress about! And our sculpture here is getting a late start cause our client didn't have their act together when we got here.

I'm sure you're gonna be fine! I felt the same way when I did my bike tour in 2004. I was totally worried about being ready... especially since my ride partner was MUCH stronger than me... but ya know what? It was a tour, and we stopped to see cool stuff, take pics etc and just had a great time in general!

I hope ecletic is having a good time too!
